Hello John, this is a general query that i have.
Im actually very confused regarding the optional papers. I really dont know which two papers to choose. Well I know that i should be taking a paper that is relevant to my field but im not sure, in fact i dont know which field im interested in and i haven’t started working as yet.
Firstly, I really liked FM (F9) and scored the highest in it but i hated foreign currency, exchange rate stuff and risk management stuff. I found it difficult to understand these topics in FM and since these topics are likely to be examined in a greater detail in AFM so I’m not sure whether i should be taking this subject.
Secondly i liked audit but i scored just 50 in that. I found it challenging so again confused with it.
F6 was the only paper i really liked and scored good, but there are so many people who say tax laws keeps changing and so they say ATX isn’t a relevant paper to take.

I’m very confused. I hope you can help me. Which paper has a greater scope according to you ? I’m from India and how do i enhance my chances of working in UK or abroad.

This might just be too much that im asking.

The reply that Kim gave you applies to AFM as well.

If you liked Paper FM and did well in it, then that is a good start for Paper AFM. Certainly risk management is always examined in AFM and in more detail (but my lectures on foreign exchange and interest rate risk management go through the rules in detail).

Have a quick look through one or two past papers on the ACCA website just to get a feel for the level of the exam.

As far as enhancing your chances of working abroad, it will be the fact that you are a qualified ACCA that will matter rather than which papers you took.

I guess I’ll be taking up AFM this june.
Will follow your lecture notes, videos and practice with BPP revision kit but is it necessary to read from BPP text book as well?

The more reading the better, but the ACCA technical articles are much more important ::-)
