    Hi,

I graduated from UoL in Banking and Finance under LSE acedemic direction. There I had discovered ACCA and later applied. They exempt me 5 exams in total and now I prepare to sit for my first exam probably in March.

Unfortunately here in Italy ACCA is not very known. i still want to continue because for me an international career is one of options. I also think that via IFRS and its adoption across the EU, ACCA importance will also grow.

So, as Italian market is not so international I was looking in neighbouring Switzerland. There people advised me to try in the UK as I have an English degree etc etc.

I want to ask you how to do my research in order to find some company in England. I worked previously in IT sector but never in accountancy and I would like to start somehow. Do you have any tips where to start ?

Hi, I don’t know about the UK but maybe you could consider Luxembourg…
We have a strong presence of ragazzi italiani here in the financial sector. The standard of living is similar to Switzerland and the weather is just as awful as in the UK.
In the bank where I worked before the majority of people in my team were from Italy! Even learnt some words…
They all found a job here through a master organised by the Italian Chambre of Commerce in Lux.
The master had several interesting sponsors like the Big 4 and some banks/financial institutions.
Not sure if it is still going on though, check it out…
Otherwise, the website to find jobs is called Monster.lu
    Hope this helps, good luck.

I haven’t thought about Luxemburg but now I will certainly look. What was the working language there bc I know that LU is a mulrilingual area ?

    Yes indeed.
The working language is normally English in the largest international companies. French may also be required/preferred in some companies or for certain positions but that’s not the norm and for what I could see, Italian people learn it pretty easily anyway.
Don’t worry about Luxembourgish or German, you will be fine even without knowing a word of them.

    Hello all,
Does anybody have an experience regarding translating Italian accounting qualification into ACCA license? it is quite a confusing topic from the internet.
In Italy you can be “Dottore Commercialista” and/or “Revisore legale”.
Is there anybody who can point out a reference / document to understand if there is any simplified route to membership? Apparently there is no equivalence, and this is quite suprising to me since the syllabus and the practical experience requirements are quite the same.
Or someone who perhaps went through this process?
    Thanks in advance
    Emanuele

This is the page for routes to membership from other qualifications https://www.accaglobal.com/in/en/member/membership/apply-from-other-bodies.html

From there you can check in the EU database – note though that you still have to meet requirements to practice (“membership” and “licenced” are not the same):

“This route to ACCA membership is for membership only and does not automatically convey practice rights. Certain additional requirements need to be met before you can obtain a practising certificate for general public practice or audit work from ACCA. Follow the link for more information.”

Once you have explored the available information, if you have further queries, you should contact ACCA directly https://www.accaglobal.com/vn/en/footer-toolbar/contact-us.html

Thanks for the response! it was helpful.
I have followed this up directly with ACCA members mailbox. Let’s see what they answer.
I have discovered that the Institute for Auditors in Italy is not part of IFAC (while the Consiglio Nazionale dei Dottori Commercialisti – basically chartered accountants – is). It is quite bit odd since chartered accountants are not licensed and cannot for example be partner in a Big 4 (you need to be a licensed auditor instead).
So I claimed that at least my practical experience – as a licensed auditor – and the ethical requirements should be recognized by ACCA in the route to membership.

Thanks again and I will keep you posted!
