What are functions of an external auditor with regards to detecting of fraud and error.
External auditors aim only at giving reasonable assurance that the financial statements are free from material misstatements. Therefore, they should have a good chance of detecting material frauds and error, but they have no responsibility to find every immaterial fraud or error.
