    Dear All

BPP Study Text says that dividends from both UK and non-UK associates(<50%interest) are Franked Investment Income (Reference: BPP Study Text, page350) whereas Kaplan study text says dividends from only UK associates is Franked Investment Income (Reference: Kaplan Study Text, chapter#28, page#889)

I also googled over this and all the search results support Kaplan’s view point.

Both the publishers have solved questions in their Revision Kits with their respective view points.

Kindly discuss this issue at the earliest.

    Thanks

i dont know which are u talking about.as far as kaplan is concerned it says on page 884 that overseas dividends are treated in the same way as uk dividends i.e. they are included as FII unless the dividend is from an associate in which case they are ignored all together..
Effectively it means that a dividend from an associate whether uk or non uk is ignored and a dividend from a non associate whether from uk or non uk associate is treated as FII.
i dont know where have u read that info..hope this clears out

Unfortunately, this is after the exams, but I concur with cuid3. Treat all dividend the same…..i.e. they are not part of the PCTCT (Profits chargeable to corporation tax). They are merely used to determine the corporation tax band. 😀
