“A strong, close knit informal organisation is desirable within the formal organisation”
In the BPP book, this sentence is regarded as false
Why so?
Informal organisations are not set up by management and might therefore be invisible to management. For example, friendships, alliances, gossip. These relationships and information flows can be very strong and can undermine what the formal organisation wants to accomplish.
Therefore, they are not desirable (though inevitable to some extent).
