    Hello!
I am having an interview next week for an Accounts payable role, I have never done an interview in my life, could anyone tell me what type of questions do they ask for this position. Maths, accounting standards, anything, please.
    Thanks a lot!

    @andreali,

you know. they might ask u various things.
But my fist and biggest tip is simply BE CONFIDENT. Whatever ur knowledge is, confidence is everything, if u have any knowledge on the subject, then confidence will make it all.
Today i failed i guess the easiest intervew in my life, just because i was not confident. During the interview my whole ability to think just went away, it’s like suddenly u have nothing in your brain 🙂 Though in fact, you have alot. Even employers stayed shocked somehow , how can it be that i pass ACCA without failures but can’t answer almost any single question 🙂

Well it depends on the company, some companies will have 3 levels interview,
then u need to prepare to talk to HR manager first about your personal qualities, your background, your interest in this company and position.
Then testing (usually accounting, can be some law and or taxation…depends on the company ), then line manager, then maybe higher management.

If it’s a smaller company then u will be interviewed by your future line manager straight away.
In this case ensure that u know all accounting entries related to payables. Ensure that u know the basic theory. They might require knowledge of Excel, so prepare to explain what u can do in excel, which functions (not just sum ..prepare some interesting ones).
Most likely they are using some accounting software. If they indicate it in the position, then u need to ensure that u have at least some knowledge about that software..that u can work in it.

But once again, be confident. I know it’s easier to say then to do.
    But think of it.
Employer is as much interested in you as u are in him. If u don’t know something, u can try to reply, or u can just be silent. No one is going to put u to electric chair or post your name in internet with the note “dummy of the year ” :). It’s just about being able to show that u know at least something, that u are able to learn, that u are active , that u are interested in that role.

Ah, don’t forget to check information about the company, to be able to explain why you are so interested in them. And whatever happens, stay positive.
Job search is a very tough thing., very much depends on luck.
Many educated and experienced people search for job for over a year or so.
    That’s life.

Whatever it is, i wish u very best of luck with your interview!
