SBRFinancial Instruments - Financial Liability -FVTPL

Hi Can someone please help me .
In answering the financial instrument question in relation to the fvtpl , will we be told to use this method or will we have to apply ourselves .
In text it says that if they are held for trading use the fvtpl not the amortised way .
