I’m currently studying towards the Diploma in Accounting via the Foundations route (unfortunately I didn’t meet the minimum criteria for direct entry to ACCA). I was wondering if there is a strict route I need to follow with the exams, i.e. take FA1 before FA2, MA1 and MA2 or if I can mix them? Also do I need to complete these four papers before being able to sit the FAB, FMA and FFA exam?
Thanks in advance!

There is no strict route for the exams.
You can take the Diploma papers (FAB, FMA, and FFA) without having taken the previous 4 exams. If you pass these then you will get the Diploma and if you want you can then carry on with the full ACCA Qualification, or you can go for the CAT Qualification. It is only if you decide to go for the CAT Qualification that you would then need to go back and take the first four exams.
If you find FAB, FMA, and FFA terribly difficult (I do not think you will – they are not too bad) then it might be worthwhile studying the earlier papers because they will help you. However, the earlier papers are not a requirement unless you wish to get the CAT qualification.August 20, 2013 at 6:02 pm #138709Melanie
Thanks for your detailed response, that’s great to know!
I’ll probably finish FA1 and MA1 which I already started, it’s actually quite good as a refresher and then move straight on to ACCA.
