Hi I am have exams in AUGUST. I am not sure how to start studying. Do I need to revise the entire textbook? Would practice questions help? Do I need to revise the questions and answers? Do questions repeat in exams? I am overwhelmed…can someone give suggestions please.
May 17, 2024 at 7:54 am #705538At the bottom of this page you will find a “study planner template PDF” you can download to plan your time between now and your exam in August.
Once you have studied a syllabus – whether through a textbook
– or using our notes and accompanying 20 lectures (available here https://opentuition.com/acca/bt) – you should only need to refer back to your study material if you have completely overlooked or fundamentally misunderstood a topic.Instead, revising through “practice, practice, practice” should reinforce what you know – a good source of Qs should have answer justifications, so if you get Qs wrong you can learn from your mistakes. If you don’t want to invest in a “Revision Kit” (but note that you can get 20% discount from BPP https://opentuition.com/20-discount-bpp-books), you will find that BT in ACCA’s Study Hub includes practice and revision question https://www.accaglobal.com/uk/en/student/your-study-options/studyhub.html
If you haven’t already done so, you should attempt the Specimen (Full exam and an additional set of MTQs) which you can find here https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-support-resources/fundamentals-exams-study-resources/f1/pilot-papers.html#
For even more practice you can buy ACCA’s practice tests https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-support-resources/practice-tests.html
The topics of Qs will certainly repeat in exams, since every exam will aim to cover the syllabus, but you shouldn’t just “learn” correct answers, without knowing why they are correct, because there are many different ways in which the same Q may be asked, and there are likely to be few, if any, that will be exactly the same in the real exam.
