this is 2nd time I failed in F8, first time 47, answered around 82, i thought full ans will get me 50 next time, & i did so with confidence that at least 60% of my ans will be correct. but it wasn’t. this time 49!.
I practiced past 14 qus paper & compared my ans with ACCA given ans in website, almost every time i scored around 56-70 , that was self-judgement.
i scored well in audit risk areas, internal control & their recommendations , as they matched with ACCA ans.
my weak point was audit procedure, substantive test, audit report where i got less thile practice. Please give some advise how can i improve myself

Well, if you know where you are weak (audit procedures, substantive tests and audit reports), those are the areas to attack – and they are common arease for questions.
I would guess, but obviously can’t be sure, that you did no answer audit procedues and substantive tests in enough detail: you have to spell out exactly what you are doing and why. For example, it is no good saying something like “Verify that receipts from customers appear in the cash book”. What you need is something like “Pick a sample of receipts from receivables ledger accounts and trace these to the Dr side of the cash book to ensure that receipts are paid in”. Picture yourself explaining the procedure to a 16 year old trainee who needs to have everything spelled out.
Audit reports should be susceptible to learning the rules.
It might be worthwhile investing in a revision kit from, say BPP, as many answers have commentaries to explain why the answer is as it is.

January 26, 2016 at 7:44 am #297928it was my first attempt and i scored 40,but my expectations were high and i was thinking before the result that i will pass it but…….
now the point to considerwhat material should i use for the preparation
im weak in brief explanatio how can i overcome these probs to pass f8January 26, 2016 at 8:28 am #2979401 – You must know the theory such as ethics, how to formlate an appropriate audit opinion etc.
2 – Remember, however, many questions ask for application of theory to scenarios.
3 – I don’t know what material you have at the moment, but, as I said, you should get a revision kit if you do not already have one.
I suggest you study a section of the syllabus, then try a few relevant questions. Compare your answer to model answers to see important areas you might have left out.

February 11, 2016 at 9:03 am #300019For gaining full marks it is important to write relative points in full details (say, for 1 marks , 1 relative sentence ).
But my question is:
[1] should I give additional 1 or 2 relative sentences for maximizing the chance of gaining full marks from a question?
I am asking this because some of my points may not satisfy the examiner (e.g.: points may not relative / they were lack of details / they went completely wrong )
Will the examiner consider extra points to give marks ? (say, for a 6 marks qus. where I need to give 6 relative points , but what should be the point of view from the examiner for 7th or 8th point)
.
.
.
[2] Again, If I write more points than actually needed but not in details, will the examiner consider all these points to calculate total marks for that question?( say, for 6 marks qus. where 6 will explained point needed, I wrote 9 points shortly , will that score like => 9 point x 1/2 marks = 4.5 marks)February 11, 2016 at 11:38 am #300030Examiners say that if you make 8 points when only 6 are asked for, they will read all 8 hoping to find correct ones. However, this approach wastes your time somewhat because writing more than needed on one question leaves less time for another.
If you made 8 points in a question requiring 6 points and all your points were right but not completely explained so that each was worth only 1/2 mark, you would only get 6 x 1/2 = 3.
So extra points do not compensate for poor explanation.
