Sir i unfortunately failed p7 although was expecting a much higher mark given the way i did the paper,My observartion could be firstly i wasnt able to attempt 20 marks , secondly i did not have much knowledge of IFRS 9 which although is rare for p7 , it crept up quite a bit, i have few questions for you
1. What does failing at 40 marks mean for p7?2. I did not see your lectures, do u cover all the topics and any past exam question solving?
3. What do u think i should do for p7 now considering i know most of the stuff and wouldnt take much time to revise for the exam?
January 16, 2017 at 1:27 pm #367589‘1. What does failing at 40 marks mean for p7?’ – means that you scored only 80% of the required marks – what else do you think it could mean?
‘2. I did not see your lectures, do u cover all the topics and any past exam question solving?’ – there’s a lot of talk and not much on the screen – stuff that you can listen to whilst you’re cooking dinner or trying to sleep
Substantially the whole of the syllabus is covered
Past exam question solving? Not in lectures but P7 is (as I have maintained ever since I took the equivalent exam in the last century) a common sense exam with the opportunity to excel with the application of sound examination technique and a wild imagination
‘3. What do u think i should do for p7 now considering i know most of the stuff and wouldnt take much time to revise for the exam?” – I see a mistake looming here!
How can you say ‘… considering i know most of the stuff and wouldnt take much time to revise for the exam’ when you have attained only 80% of the pass mark? In any normal distribution your score places you firmly in the last 16% of the thousands of students that took the exam with you so your claim that ‘… considering i know most of the stuff and wouldnt take much time to revise for the exam’ is probably misguided
However, what to do … have you read my article on exam technique for P7 – P7 home page, technical articles, scroll down to near the bottom of the page and click on the examination technique article
There are two other articles by members of the P4 marking team that say effectively the same as my article – but read those also anyway
And now, with effect from tomorrow, read the questions and answers from a revision kit / exam kit from a reputable publisher. Cover to cover, just read, don’t try to learn. Read, read and read question, then answer, question, then answer from start to finish in the revision kit
You should be able to get through from start to finish in just a few evenings. When you’ve finished, do it again and then, when you’ve finished a second read through, do it again
Keep on doing that until the middle of next month – say around the 20th and then post again for the next and final piece of guidance
Meanwhile, get reading. Whenever you have a half hour spare, read. Do you have a television? Lend it to your aunt and uncle in a city many kilometers away from your home
Read, again and again
January 16, 2017 at 2:09 pm #367617awesome advice sir, i had given p4 , and i passed that thinking i would pass p7 and fail p4!
exam practice is the key for sure, and i confess i didnt have enough practice and didnt manage time well, but one thing that really scared me was that i was using and thinking about the p7 technique by LSBF throughout the paper, but it didnt pay much dividents so this is the thing that is scaring me the most,
i will watch all your lectures , considering i have alot of time to just prepare for only p7 to give.
I hope i can pass this time! and will have your support throughout , thanks alot sir for your valuable advice!
January 16, 2017 at 2:30 pm #367633I’m not expecting any posts from you for some time now – you’re just reading and letting the P7 niceties soak in. But, if you need to, please do feel free to ask
Put your question on a new thread – one thread for each question topic so that the subject line is clear for everyone that wants to read about the same issue
January 16, 2017 at 10:50 pm #367806many thanks sir will get to work and hopefully end this once and for all!
January 17, 2017 at 8:02 am #367862That’s good, but I shall be here if you need to ask anything
