HI. I have somehow failed P5 five times. This is with ALOT of revision and passing of mock exam and having done a lot of work on technique, on concise writing etc yet I still can not pass.
I am thinking of resitting it but also doing P4. This would be done via online classroom and therefore self study. I was exempt from all F papers except F7. Only am I having trouble with my last two optionals. I finally passed P7 and now want to get past P5.
Having not done F9….wold you encourage me that because I want to learn P4 topics and am motivated to work hard for the next 3months..that I could pass it? OR, should I really have done F9? I have printed off F9 notes to look back at topics if I need to. already I have watched videos on past exam q’s to do with option investments, black and scholes, cost of equity, beta asset calc and CAPM etc and do not think it would be difficult to learn formulae and practice practice practice.
However, I look at the past exam papers and they look very hard!!!! I come out of P5 everytime thinking I have passed though..but I don’t………
Please advise as I wish to make a decision soon on whether I will commit financially and socially!
August 26, 2014 at 2:57 pm #192406after failing P5 4 times I decided to change to P4 which is the subject I will be sitting in December 2014. My other option paper was P7 which I passed at the 2nd attempt without ever working in audit. I never done F9 so I’m using the lectures on open tuition and doing as many questions as I can. I was so fed up of P5 I nearly gave up on ACCA, glad I didn’t as just one exam too go.
August 26, 2014 at 3:07 pm #192407Hmmmm yeah I am thinking along those lines. I took P5 because I was told it was easier but I think it has become harder with the new examiner. P4 will be very hard but a lot more interesting to study and something I would wish to know about for my career.
I just feel drained with the amount of time put in , nevermind the money spent on courses/exams!
August 26, 2014 at 5:45 pm #192426Buy F9 textbook and revision kit from BPP . If you go through them and you are happy, then go ahead and do P4, otherwise, you may have to stick with P5.
P5 is easier to understand, but with the current examiner, I often find his requirements vague and sometimes ambiguous.
Yes P4 is a difficult subject, BUT with the current examiner, most requirements in the exam are often straight forward, you either know what to do or you don’t. I abandoned P5 for P4 and thank God I am now an affiliate.
Best of luck
