Anyone can pass any paper if they know exactly what to study.
For f8, study opentuition notes for each unit. Then practice bpp kit for that unit. After that, check pocket notes for additional theory which is not covered in opentuition notes and bpp kit. Whenever you find anything to memorise, write it down somewhere or highlight it.
Do this for every unit except “audit evidence”. In this unit, you can leave some scenario questions from the kit if you dont have time to complete it.
Before the exam, revise everything you highlighted/wrote down and read through one or two past papers. You will pass for sure 🙂

April 23, 2012 at 4:40 pm #94413The key to pass F8 paper is to have command over the concepts. If 50% of paper is based on concepts then the other 50% is based on common sense. That’s the best thing about F8. If you’ve time, read the book thoroughly, absorb each and every concept, then after going through the book, attempt past papers..try to solve them first and then look for the solution..this way you would know where you lack and next time you might not make the same mistake. There’s literally ‘no’ need to memorise anything..if you know what a certain topic is all about you would be able to write about it and believe you me it wouldn’t take you hours…..
And there’s no need to be scared, ppl do clear this subject in first attempt, just be focused and believe in yourself!….All the very best….

I do agree with sids on everything else except the memorizing part.
You have to memorise certain definitions (assurance engagements, internal audit, corporate governance, material misstatement etc), audit assertions, rules in the uk combined code, certain good controls (which you can suggest for a department with weak controls), money laundering, matters that affect going concern (you will come across repetitive ones in the kit), materiality (%), factors to consider while using work of others/internal audit department, rules for deciding audit opinion (the material and pervasive part) etc.
