Hello , I was just wondering if with a bit of discipline would it be possible to pass F9 using a book and the opentuition online lectures only , I am at the P stage of exmas but have left F9 for the last F paper because on a quick look through notes , I don’t think it is my type of paper but I know I just have to bite the bullet and do it !!!
I am living in a rural location and cannot get an F9 class near to me so hence my worry in doing it home study … I have already paid for this exam twice but have yet to actually sit the paper !!
What time or hours would be an average required to be doing at this stage and I do know that every individual is different but just to shock myself into action 🙂 …. many thanksSeptember 2, 2013 at 1:53 pm #139519AnonymousInactive- Topics: 0

September 2, 2013 at 1:55 pm #139521Yes it’s possible, I passed F9 using Open Tuition lectures only, in 1 attempt.
I do have a F9 textbook though, but don’t really remember reading through it :p
I studied maximun 2-3 hours a day for the last 2 months before exam, but I won’t say it can serve as your reference, because I believe it won’t work even if you study for 10 hours a day but not in a state of concentrating.
Just forget everything else when you study, then I believe you’re not far from passing.September 2, 2013 at 2:42 pm #139527Thanks Syn213 , That great , I know I have to put in the work but a point of view from someone else is always a help !!! you have given spurred me on to get cracking with the books 😉

And what he or she says is correct – you can pass F9 using just our lectures and course notes, but you must practice as many questions as possible. Do try and get hold of one of the revision/exam kits from one of the approved publishers.
(and remember that about 50% of the exam is written (as opposed to calculations) and so do make sure that you really understand the topics and that you are not just learning the arithmetic).September 2, 2013 at 3:58 pm #139537amantiepelaelo:
Please post this as a separate topic – it does not relate to the current heading.
Also, please say what your problem is with what you have written and then I will try and help you.

Hi Mother1
I am just looking at some of the posts. I am looking to attempt F5 adn maybe F9 together this time round. It does sound scary but I found the Open Tuition course notes very helpful it has boosted my confidence to attempt 2 papers.
I plan to buy the text books and with the online lectures hope to get by. Funding the papers myself is so costly that I it is difficult.
September 3, 2013 at 11:44 am #139623@ littlemissy , I would think that F5 and F9 are a good combination , I have already completed F5 but I find the costing type papers to be difficult enough , How and ever I started my study in earnest last night as promised and I found the online lectures very good . I do have other study manuals which I have from last year but sometimes I find if I arm myself with too much information it all goes over my head , To be honest I am aiming for the magic 50% on this paper and if I can do it with the Revision Kit exam pack , the opentuition online lectures together with the notes that’s the route I am going to take 🙂 .. I know the material I covered last night was very understandable and I was happy enough when I shut the computer down !!
In connection with 2 papers , I am also going to chance P1 also but I’m not going to get too bogged down about that , I will start with F9 and see how I feel with that one ….and if time and confidence permits I’ll try and get my head around P1 ….
All the best with the studies … back to online lectures tonight 🙂 - AuthorPosts
