Hi,
I have been on a taught course and have just finished a revision course for F9 and now feel like I do not know a single thing. I seem to be struggling with every aspect, even though before the revision course it seemed to be going ok, not passing questions but getting some goods points down at this stage and getting calculations right or on right lines.
I know question practice is key, but I am sitting F5 this December as well and cant dedicate all my time to relearning/focusing on F9.
Does anyone have any ideas that might help? I don’t really want to revisit online lectures as I don’t feel I have enough time to do that and the question practice due to work and other commitments.
November 16, 2015 at 1:53 pm #282852If you feel the taught course has you no better off ( I felt the same after mine, so online for me from now on). I am also resitting F5 too.
If you dont have enough time to revisit online lectures, and you feel you are stuggling, and you cannot dedicate your time properly……then you either fail, or, you get on the horse and do practise questions on both. Practise questions are great for showing up weak points and when you get them wrong, you know where to have a quick flick back.I am very pressed for time too. Full time job and a 9 month old baby. You just gotta make it work. If that means late nights till 1am on the computer, so be it (coffee insert here!!). You have to give yourself a fighting chance when pressed for time.
Taught courses are not my cup of tea. Information is thrown at you and invariably you end up going home totally confused and have to re-learn yourself anyway. My taught course was a big contributing factor to my F5 demise. I put in a lot of effort study wise, we just were not exposed to enough throughout the learning, and in the exam, there was no hiding.
i suggest you use open T to brush up on areas that are problematic for you when answering questions. Look at the lecture or study the solution, and try understand what is going on in the solution as much as possible.

December 2, 2015 at 12:47 am #286853I personally find doing a lot of section a type questions, either through past papers or the online testing on open tuition has helped a lot. The reason beng it forces you to look at and think about each section and different scenarios as well as exposing you to different ways the questions may be asked. This should help you with the concepts . Section B questions are just those concepts expanded with added information . You will gain answers on theory parts which could rack up 2 to 8 marks in the exam…..who knows. Go through all flash cards on here too, three times over a day or two and embed it as part of learning. I am personally feeling a lot better and doing as much as I can with what time I have, will it be enough…….let the examiner decide.
