Going through the answer script posted on ACCA website, I have a feeling that the answer to the first question is not quite correct. The model answer does not take into account release of working capital at the end of the four year period. Not sure if anyone else noticed that.

It depends on what you assume. The examiner has left it out because the machine is going to be replaced and it is therefore assumed that the working capital will still be required (we are replacing the machine and therefore not stopping production).

Thanks, John. It is surely dependent on the assumption that one makes but had it been a marginal case of invest or not to invest, surely you would not leave the working capital in while doing the analysis. As a stand alone analysis, wouldn’t it be more appropriate to account for the working capital release especially considering the impact that it has on the result.

I wanted to ask you a question regarding my result – I came away from the exam expecting to score more than 90 and after reviewing the ACCA model answers feel all the more convinced that my score of 77 cannot be right. While I know that it does not really matter, do you think there is merit is asking for an administrative review? In any case I wanted to thank you guys because i used only the OpenTuition.com material for the few days of preparation time that I had.
