do i need any assumed knowledge from f2 before i go for f9 tuition? Any suggestions for pre-course work to do?
August 11, 2013 at 11:15 pm #137601i don’t know, but why do you ask about f2 and not f5?
August 12, 2013 at 6:00 am #137622You will need knowledge of NPV, Internal Rate of Return, Discounting, Compounding, Annuity, Payback. Apart from that i dont think you would need anythin else from F2. You can find OT Lectures on these under F2 🙂
August 12, 2013 at 6:58 am #137626Plen is correct, except that you also need basic inventory control and accounting ratios.
If you are using our course notes and lectures, then there is no need to go back to F2 – everything relevant is revised in our F9 material. I would only go back to F2 if you find a revision chapter that you really have problems with.
(With regard to what ask248 has posted, you do not need any knowledge from F5)
August 12, 2013 at 10:55 am #137678thank you 🙂
August 13, 2013 at 8:51 am #137833You are welcome 🙂

i don’t know, but why do you ask about f2 and not f5?Is there any assumed knowledge from F5 in F9?
I’m going to be attempting both in December and was a little worried by that comment! Thanks
August 13, 2013 at 2:44 pm #137868i asked the question because i’m about to start studying f9 myself, not because i know there is assumed knowledge, so don’t let it worry you please. John Moffat said before that you don’t need any F5 for F9.
August 14, 2013 at 12:27 am #137951f9 sounds pretty intense… i’m going to do that one on its own i think for dec – or with p1; what do you guys think?
August 14, 2013 at 8:19 am #137966There is no assumed knowledge from Paper F5 in Paper F9.
You are expected to know what the term contribution means – but that is really from F2 anyway 🙂
F5 is Performance Management, whereas F9 is Financial Management.
August 14, 2013 at 4:25 pm #138059I feel the same as you Mor112!!
I keep trying to think what is best but i am thinking of doing F9 in dec and start in Jan on P1 so if i fail do both in june or go on and study P1 and p2 for June if i pass! but give myself more study time as i have been told p1 isnt difficult but is a struggle to find what the examiner is actually asking of you 🙂
August 15, 2013 at 7:27 am #138125There is a lot to study for F9, but everyone is different with regard to how hard or easy they find it!
So much also depends on how much time you have for studying.Maybe it would be an idea to look at a few of the recent past exam papers for both F9 and P1 and at least get a feel for how hard or easy you think that you will find them.
