I have 18 days to go to F8 exam. I have been struggling to get up to speed with F7 so I have done no work on F8.
I am not almost up to scraping a pass standard on F7, and will try and improve over the next few weeks also.
I have started F8 learning today. Is it possible to scrape a pass with 18 days to go?
I am willing to spend 10-12 hours a day, every day studying.
I have BPP revision kit. I propose 6 hours a day F8, the balance F7.
Can it be done?
I am skim reading the chapters at the moment, and then going straight to the revision kit and doing questions! If I get them wrong I try them again and again every day until I get them right.. is this the best approach for my time constraint?
May 15, 2015 at 9:54 pm #246256I passed F8 by reading the answers in the BPP revision kit (as the bpp study text was so long and so dull). I also listened to lectures ( twice), I made notes for my answers when I did attempt them only once and did not write out full answers, as I too concentrated on another exam I was doing more, I did not do as much work for F8 as I should have done as I prefer the numerical questions more. Goodluck.
May 15, 2015 at 10:25 pm #246257Thanks so much Mo!
You sound like me, I much prefer the numerical papers- I can’t stand written ones!
I have been doing as you were too- after skim reading the chapters I try a few questions. Usually jotting down bullet points as writing out in full is too tedious and time consuming! I then check the model answer and if my outline answer is not up to scratch I make a note to revisit the question in the next few days. Rinse and repeat!
I plan to work my way through the entire kit with this methodology. In my circumstances it seems like the most time efficient way of getting enough knowledge into my head to scrape a pass!
I’m so glad that you were able to pass using a similar method, that is very reassuring! Thank you π

Its best to look at answers from the exam kit you are using (I am using Kaplan atm), this way you could understand topics allot easier and quicker!. And most importantly give yourself a week to put aside all materials and focus on answering past exam questions without looking at answers -(focus on exam technique and timing)
Good Luck with your revision! =)

May 31, 2015 at 9:18 pm #251138Hey, I am in the same position.
I took all last week and this coming week off work to revise, but I have been focussing on F7 and have only just started my revision on F8. I prefer the numerical stuff and hate written work… which is why I chose to work with numbers.BPP gave me a list of questions called Must do, Should do, Could do, for F7, but I have realised that they haven’t given it to me for F8. (Happy to send the list for F7 to anyone that needs it.)
Just wondered whether anyone has a copy, or can recommend the appropriate questions to focus on rather than trying to go through the P&R Kit from front to back in 2 days π
Thanks

June 3, 2015 at 7:23 pm #252714I managed to get 48 marks (wounder!) last year when I only studied for F8 from the time I got in the house from the F7 exam the day before up until the early hours of the morning (work was hectic and I was in the office evenings and weekends leading up to the exam) so I’m sure you’ll manage it with all the effort you’re putting in. I’m resitting it tomorrow having done a bit more this time around and am fairly confident. I also prefer numerical papers, but at least this one is mainly common sense (and less memorising details like F4).
Just remember to set your risk/recommendation answers out nicely in a table and avoid using “check” when describing substantive procedures (use “inspect”, “inquire”, “re-perform” etc as if you were giving someone clear instructions) and you’ll be grand.Good luck!
June 3, 2015 at 7:31 pm #252723Thanks Mark… too late for tomorrow, but i will use it for September’s resist because i know I am going to fail F8 and F7.
F7 was a nightmare. None of my answers were in the multiple choice answers and it took me an hour to get through them all.
By the time the lady shouted out “1hr to go”, I was still on question 1 of section b π
I have never failed any of my exams, but there’s a first time for everything I guess.
Good luck for F8 tomorrow everyone!!!

June 3, 2015 at 7:33 pm #252726Oh yeah… Jill is right… my tutor said that examiners hate when you use the word “check” she told us to say ” ‘Agree’ the balance to…”.
I haven’t done any revision for it as I was focussing on F7…
