Overall I thought this was quite straight forward, I went in a mess as i never had much time to revise this topic, but came out very happy, Feeling confident!
June 14, 2012 at 3:32 pm #100328The paper was similar to the Kaplan Revision Kit and maybe studying that was enough.. Lucky if u had done that 🙂

I wrote Emphasis matter paragragh , qualification – disagreement and qualification limited scope , are these right ?I may be wrong but I think they 3 were Qualified, Adverse and Disclaimer(Refuse to give an opinion). Emphasis of matter is used to highlight an item that is already in the financial statements and doesn’t affect the opinion. Depending how they mark you may get 2/3 but you definitely got 1/3.
I thought the exam overall was fine, I found myself over writing on questions that were for small marks but still finished with 15 minutes at the end.
Dreading F9 tomorrow now, really not looking forward to that one….
June 14, 2012 at 3:54 pm #100330Q4 was about financial assertions for account balances not inventory 4 financial assertion with substantive procedures… rest of the questions are right.
It wasnt a bad paper but lets see if I pass

That’s the worst thing about F8 , everyone say paper went well but in the end most of them fail , even this happened with my friends . Hope so i will clear it one attempt ,

I
passed my paper in last attempt and articles helped alot.Emphasis of matter will be a mark. There are 3 types of modified report. Non-qualified with emphasis of matter, qualified due to disagreement and qualified due to lack of sufficient and appropriate evidence.
Paper as a whole was fair. There’s only a limited amount of questions that can be asked in F* and a lot repeat from previous exams. If you practiced those you should be ok.

For those who claim to have finished, you should be concerned….maybe you answered less questions than required…lol!

Emphasis of matter doesn’t affect the audit opinion. The question asked for 3 types of modified audit opinion, if emphasis of matter doesn’t affect the opinion how can it by a type of modified opinion 0_o. The three types are definitely Qualified, Adverse and Disclaimer.
A qualified opinion covers both disagreement and lack of evidence if it is material but not persuasive. “except for……”
Adverse “does not give a true and fair view”
Disclaimer “Can not give an opinion due to lack of sufficient appropriate evidence”
Thanks for the tips on F9 belal, I’m panicking about memorising formula’s not given and ensuring I know how to calculate cost of equity and debt for the WACC. I failed last time I sat it by 2% so I’ll be devastated if I fall backward.
P.S. Liverbnz is your name Liver because your in Liverpool? What did you think of the moody desks? I looked through the graffiti on mine to see if there were any answers!

I thought my arm was going to drop off by the end.
There should be some kind of health and safety regulations to give you a rest every hour so so you dont get RSI lol.I put that emphasis of matter was a modified opinion becuase I though that disclaimer of opinion was not a modified opinion because it is not an opinion at all. It seems I may have been wrong.
Wish I put all four now so at least it would have covered all basis.

I’m fairly sure it asked for 3 types of modified reports, not opinion. Stand corrected if I’m wrong.

No mate, not for Liverpool :). lfc supporter though.
June 14, 2012 at 5:57 pm #100340Hopefully it was modified report and then we are all 3 marks better off.
A typical Kopite then, next you’ll say your Norwegian too 8-P

June 14, 2012 at 5:59 pm #100341I agree, written papers cant be so difficult to gauge how well you’ve done. I thought I aced F4 and actually failed. And i know of many who’ve had the same happen with F8 in the past.
Guess its just a waiting game until the text / email comes through.
June 14, 2012 at 6:01 pm #100342Really relieved – I thought this was gonna be worse than F7 but came out feeling more confident than yesterday.
I just finished in the time – hope I didn’t miss any question parts inadvertantly. There were a LOT of them!
My main difficulty was limiting answers to a few points when there were only 3-4 marks available – a classic mistake from
the examiner’s comments on previous exams but it takes real discipline to stop when you’re a roll!!
Now feeling smug about looking up new additions to the syllabus this morning and revising going concern indicators just before I went in. Just hope the marker can read my writing at that point after 3 hours!June 14, 2012 at 6:10 pm #100343@cromwellk said:

June 14, 2012 at 6:12 pm #100344EOM is not a qualification … its clearly stated

I never said it was. However it is a ‘modification’ which is not the same thing. It asked for modified ‘report’ not ‘opinion’. Modification does not mean qualified. Read ISA 700 for clarification.
June 14, 2012 at 6:17 pm #100346Hi – I thought the exam was as expected – an awful lot of writing but I felt I budgeted my time well – I had about 5 minutes of checking time left at the end.
I wouldnt say I thought it was easy but I feel I gave it my best shot and didnt feel devastated when I came out. I guess we will just have to wait for August when the results are out.
I have been home studying F8 and set out my answers where possible as the previous ACCA exam papers demonstrate so for me its just wait and see. I am not expecting a massive score but will be happy enough with a pass, even if it were just with 50! Not sure yet whether I will study Audit further when I get to the advanced P exam levels so will be glad to get this one out of the way.
Good luck folks…June 14, 2012 at 6:31 pm #100347I am actually worried I think I feel i did enough but I missed out on 9 bloody easy marks on question 5 time problem……what are my chances of passing 🙁
June 14, 2012 at 6:41 pm #100348paper f8 for june 2012 was set easy time was a problem i did not complete upto the last second in a standard time my 7 marks was in danger the paper end time was 17:15 pm but due to power loss time was given as a compensation in the end after 17:15 pm so i utilize this time and complete my f8 exam before the 15 second before the time allowed for power failure i do my best for f8 exam study harder by practicing past paper and just practice past paper and reading technical articles and much more complete 100 % with relevant answer lets see how many marks i scored in paper f8 i hope to got high marks in paper f8 examination
