Dear all,
In about a week we are going to start our F8 study group. I need to decide on days and timings.
First of all, I need to decide whether we will have 1 or 2 sessions per week.
Till now in previous papers there were always 2 sessions per week, but it appeared to be time wasting and not very efficient.
I need your suggestions. As for days, I’m deciding whether to put sessions on weekend , say Sunday, or during weekdays, say Thursday.
Week day timing can’t be earlier then 5 pm UK time for me.
Weekend timing – any time during the day, but preferably morning say 8-9 am Uk .If you are interested, please vote here.
thank you !
have a nice day,
ansiJune 29, 2011 at 1:29 pm #85676Hi Ansi,
I would prefer Sunday morning session. Are you doing UK version????
Aparna
June 30, 2011 at 5:38 am #85677I will be studying INT version. What about you?
Okay, i also prefer Sunday morning.
let’s wait for opinion of others 🙂
June 30, 2011 at 1:54 pm #85678Time in weekday would be fine with me. Can’t make any sessions on a Sunday generally.
July 1, 2011 at 4:39 am #85679@stasi,
oh ….. i wanted to have most of sessions on weekend. It’s nice to study in the weekend morning.but then you will miss whole F8 , which I can’t accept …sigh, well, then only thursday is left…
July 1, 2011 at 4:36 pm #85680Hi Guys,
Nice to study with everyone again. I am fine with weekend but weekdays please after 6:30pm.
CheersJuly 3, 2011 at 7:22 pm #85681Hi everyone
I’d really really love the idea of week ends but Sunday mornings do not favor me at all I’ll never be able to meet up. And I agree with Littlestart for weekdays time.
CheersJuly 3, 2011 at 9:35 pm #85682I am also interested in F8, and prefer weekends Thanks again.
July 4, 2011 at 4:24 am #85683As more then one member already isn’t happy about Sundays, there won’t be a group on this day then.
I think it will rather be Thursdays after 6:30 pm …@drose,
I do prefer weekends as well, but already several people say about problems regarding Sunday 🙁
During saturday i will be busy with F7, so as i said above , i’ll have to make the session during weekdays, most likely thursday ..unless people will be not happy about thursday as well.July 4, 2011 at 8:59 am #85684AnonymousInactive- Topics: 0

so ..thursday 6:30 pm Uk time.

All advice and suggestions are welcome.

Hi everyone,
I’m quite new to this forum and I am wondering how this works. Could someone give me a brief idea about this? Thanks very much! 🙂July 8, 2011 at 7:47 am #85687well then i should say , welcome to opentuition! 🙂
Hope u will enjoy OT materials and forum.
There is also chat room where you can meet many other ACCA students from all over the world. As for study groups. Well, it works quite simple.
At exact time (we use UK time, so don’t forget to check the difference of time between Uk and your area) we gather in the chat room and discuss topics which should be studied beforehand using all materials that you can get.in Chat there are separate rooms for each paper.
During discussion usually i have to ask questions and others reply . While it’s always good if others ask questions as well, as I am a student myself and it’s hard to cover all topics alone 🙂For F8 we currently decided to meet on thursdays at 6:30 pm uk time.
first session will be held on 14th of July and hope to see u in the group !Feel free to post your questions on forum.
And note, that there are tutor’s forums here as well , where you can pose your question to OT tutors.July 11, 2011 at 8:30 am #85688AnonymousInactive- Topics: 0

hello guys ..
thanks ansi for starting the session , and its great to start early.
I am interested . and i’ll surely join the session .
Need to know which text book you prefer for f8 ?July 12, 2011 at 8:54 am #85691@sajjad110
thank you for your interest and it will be great to have you in our study sessions!
F8 is more theoretical, so i guess BPP will be good for it.
but as always it’s hard to study from bpp only, as language is too technical.
i’ll try to buy both , kaplan and bpp.
July 12, 2011 at 10:03 am #85692Hi, was just wondering what topics will be discussed in the first study session?
July 12, 2011 at 11:14 am #85693i will post schedule very soon. Sorry for the delay.
most likely we will follow F8 syllabus, just as i usually do.July 13, 2011 at 12:06 pm #85694In case if others wonder which topics we will discuss tomorrow.
we will start with introduction and then discuss first two chapters of F8 syllabus.
1. The concept of audit and other assurance engagements
2. Statutory audits.July 13, 2011 at 6:12 pm #85695AnonymousInactive- Topics: 0

@ansi
hmm .. okies.. what about the kit ?? which one you prefer ?July 14, 2011 at 4:33 am #85696@sajjad110,
For F8 I think BPP will be most appropriate, if u want a real practice! However Kaplan should be okay as well.
My 2011 books are still on their way . I will get Kaplan first, then after a while BPP.
For the moment we will rely on some free updated materials and books of official publishers that you have at hand right now.July 14, 2011 at 7:01 am #85697Schedule for our sessions is now available here :
