Hi,
i want to know for September exam what new modification has been bought and in which chapters. Thanks youJuly 18, 2016 at 8:32 am #326720Disposal of subsidiary chapter 10, effects of foreign exchange chapter 30 and IFRS 15 chapter 24 (it was included in the June notes)
The disposal and the foreign exchange are new to the F7 syllabus and the course notes are up-to-date
OK? Anything else, let me know
July 18, 2016 at 10:37 pm #327423Hi Mike
I failed this paper in March and didn’t resit in June. I will resit in September, is it only these changes that apply? Did I miss things from March to June? Obviously I have my printed notes from March so was going to go over these.
Thanks
Chloe
July 19, 2016 at 5:33 am #327462Hi Chloe
I can’t remember anything else changing (was Agriculture IAS 41 in the March syllabus?) other than the format of the exam
Format is now 15 mcqs @ 2 marks each = 30 marks
3 scenaria with 5 questions each @ 2 marks = 3 x 5 x 2 = 30 marks
2 traditional type questions (consolidations, cash flows, interpretations, preparation of financial statements for a single entity) @ 20 marks = 2 x 20 = 40 marksI suggest you get well on top of as many mcqs as you can – both sorts
OK?
July 20, 2016 at 6:11 pm #328059Hi , I am planning to retake F7 in sep. What will be the best resources to practice the scenario based questions as per the new pattern. Also, for the new topics will the course notes be sufficient or what will be the best way to cover the new topics. Please guide.
July 20, 2016 at 6:35 pm #328062Course notes should be ok for you
Probably the best way to prepare for the section B type questions will be to go through the old style questions 2 and sharpen up on how to calculate the workings from those questions
July 21, 2016 at 12:52 pm #328200Hi Mike
I failed f7 miserably, to be fair I did it through a college in Ireland and did not do it through Open Tuition. I now do not know where to start or wonder do I have enough time between now & September to pass considering I could only give 8 hours per week. Do you have any advice?
Thanks
LynseyJuly 21, 2016 at 1:13 pm #328203Endless practice of mcqs – you say that you have only 8 hours per week – does that include an hour each day whilst eating a sandwich for lunch?
Or an hour each day on public transport to get to work?
Mcqs do not require you to have a desk and chair to work at – a small note pad and a pencil with your book of mcqs is enough
When you DO have a desk and chair to work at, practice the mini-exercises at the back of the OT course notes and then, when you’ve finished those, move on to trying the old style questions two from the days before the idea of mcqs was introduced into F7
I work through a number of those in the revision lectures on this site and I always give the question name and the exam sitting from which that question was lifted so you should have no difficulty in finding those questions again on the internet
Of course you have enough time – I’ve just found an extra 15 hours a week for you to spend usefully practicing mcqs and, mini-exercises and old style questions 2
In addition, make sure that you are FULLY on top of consolidations and interpretation of financial statements
It’s up to you! Do you feel motivated enough to adjust your lifestyle for 2 months where success in F7 is the reward?
Well, do you?
And, of course, when you hit a barrier, you post on this page and I shall get back to you
