    Hi ppl,

Just wanted to know what I would need (from start to finish) if I was going to attempt F6 in Ireland in Dec ’14.

Is it different material to what is put up here online,? Is there books I would need, if so any suggestions to where to get them in Ireland, would second hand work from June exams work?

Also anybody in Ireland looking to share notes. I plan to do F5 and F6 but also need to do F7 and F8 so open to suggestions.

All advice or suggestions are welcome.

    Many thanks,

    Jenny

The F6 irish variant is based on the Irish tax system, so different to the material here. A new text book would be recommended as the June and December 2014 exams are based on FA 2013, so a second hand book will be confusing as it will be based on FA 2012 at best.
I used BPP, it was fine. I got it in hodges figgis I think. Easons should be able to order it for you too. Just make sure you order the irish variant as they tried to give me the UK one.
You could get a revision pack, I got one but didn’t really use it, just printed the past papers and answers off the ACCA website.
If you’re stuck you can have my revision pack, it’s from last year, but might be of some use.

Brilliant, thank you Pat for clarifying that for me.

Thank you I will look that up and go into them today and be sure to check it is the Irish version when I am purchasing the book.

May I ask, other than this site would you recommend using other material (other than the F6 paper as it is a UK variant.) as financially it is not viable to get all the books or tuition maybe expected. Have you done exams and solely used this website?

I may start with an alternative exam if I could just use this website and wait to purchase the book requires for the F6 exam at a later stage.

I think you could definitely do F8 just using the course notes and lectures on this site and the past exam papers. The BPP F8 book is tough going, I got about half way through it found it really boring so abandoned it. I also did F7 mainly from the notes and videos on this site. I found the videos of Mike doing past exam questions really helpful as it got me into the routine of how to approach the questions.
F7 and F8 are a good combination to do together and if you’re willing to put in the time and effort you will be able to pass them both only using this site. I’m pretty sure I have F7 and F8 revision kits lying around, they’re yours if you want them.

Hi Dick, I didn’t find any online resources and looked hard enough to be honest . I have signed up to an intensive 3 day revision course for end of October ( over 20 hours in three days ) and beginning study from a book this week ! It’s a chance but the revision course is end of October so will have time between then and exam . I don’t know anyone to get advice from either as no one I know is self study so kind of winging it a bit ….hope I’m not regretting the plan by December!
