hi there .. i am thinking of doing self study for the dec session for f6.. is that possible ? what should i do to pass my paper ?
August 27, 2014 at 8:33 pm #192573I did F6 through self-study and got 81%. I recommend watching OT lectures as they are excellent, also do as many pass papers as possible.

August 30, 2014 at 10:31 pm #193085How much study time would you recommend for F6 self study?
August 31, 2014 at 4:36 pm #193150Thank you fs28 – use the course notes with the lectures and then purchase from one of the official providers a FA 2013 exam kit / revision Q’s & A’s. Roisin it will take as much time as you need – get started and see how you get on!
August 31, 2014 at 9:12 pm #193164Thanks ACCA Tutor. I am working my way through the course notes, lectures, and study text. I’m at chapter 9 of your notes. I plan to enrol for the F6 and F7 exams (early enrolment). I haven’t started the F7 lectures yet. So do you think that is enough time? I work fulltime. I have average two study days a week and two full weeks study leave prior to the exams. Thanks.
September 1, 2014 at 4:03 pm #193225Yes Roisin I would certainly at this stage be aiming at 2 papers. Most students will not even have started their studies so you are ahead of most of your peer group already. Maintain that steady work load through the next few months and then question practice in your 2 weeks of study leave. Good luck!!
September 1, 2014 at 10:21 pm #193244Is it possible to write F6, F7 and F9 on self study?
September 3, 2014 at 11:06 am #193451Every individual is different in terms of what they can deal with and the amount of study time that they have available, but as a guideline 2 subjects would be normal and would be recommended especially this early in your studies as you get to grips with the demands of the ACCA exams. Good luck!
September 5, 2014 at 5:54 pm #194004Hello!
I am registered in ACCA qualification in December 2013 session and i choose to take F6 as the first exam. I failed twice (in June 2014 as well) I’m very disappointed and I don’t know what to do. Sometimes i think i should give up of ACCA or maybe I should have started with an easier exam paper just to get a self confidence. I am full time employed and maybe it is needed more time to study. I studied really hard for two weeks last session and i thought i was really good prepared this time, i had strong knowledge of about 70 % of the F6 topics, especially in significant ones such as Income tax, Tax adjusted trading profit, VAT, etc but I don’t know what happened in the exam. I realized that i have some problems with the time management during the exam, I spend to many time on the first questions and don’t have to for the last ones… Maybe I should try with another exam paper and return to F6 in a later moment, or maybe i should give up. When i see all the students passing it i feel discouraged i don’t know what to do, please help πSeptember 6, 2014 at 12:42 pm #194074You need to ensure that you have worked through the OT course notes along with the lectures to acquire the knowledge needed to pass the exam and then use an exam kit from one of the approved providers such as Kaplan or BPP (FA 2013) to ensure that you can apply that knowledge to exam standard questions within the available time and to the correct standard of presentation. F6 is maybe a strange first choice but you have to pass all the exams at some point if you are to succeed so having worked on it up until I would suggest you ensure that you prepare properly for the December exam and then review your future after that! Have you not done any other ACCA papers at all or do you have exemptions from the earlier papers?
September 6, 2014 at 1:14 pm #194079I’ve been entitled to exemptions for F1, F2 and F3 exams. And I got some suggestions (maybe wrong ones) to choose F6 as the first exam to enter. I’m using BPP text book and revision kit to get prepared.
September 7, 2014 at 3:05 pm #194179Presumed you must have had exemptions in which case I repeat previous advice for preparation for December exam and ensure that you attempt the revision questions under test conditions within the time limit.
January 15, 2018 at 7:55 pm #430261is it wise to do f5 and f6 together ? i’ve just got one and a half month to prepare for both
January 16, 2018 at 12:43 pm #430505This will depend on how much study time you have available – if you are able to study full time then, subject to your ability, you will have enough time, but if you are fitting in study around a full time job then I would say no.
On that basis I would advise sitting F5 and leave F6 until June as the March exam is the last to be based on Finance Act 2016 with exams from June 2018 then being based on FA 2017January 18, 2018 at 11:27 am #431023Hi Sir.I want to ask you that which CALCULATOR are approved & advisable for Acca exams. I want to buy calculator for Acca exams f5 to onwards. Please recommend me best calculator for Acca exams. I’ll be appearing for F-6 March 2018 , is there any change in guidelines relating to CBE about calculators ?
January 18, 2018 at 2:30 pm #431076You will need to refer to the ACCA website for rules regarding use of calculators in exams
