I’m preparing for F5 and F6, i have almost completed F5 but Im worried about F6 as I have only completed 8 out of the 27 chapters. There are 7 weeks left to the exam including this one. I’m planning to spend 3 weeks purely on revision (full time). Do you think I’ll be able to complete the remaining 19 chapters in 3 weeks considering this subject is mainly about calculations. I feel i have spent too much time going over the same chapters again and again. Please can anyone advise me. Thanks in advance.
October 18, 2012 at 9:54 am #105648Hi,
For F6 – what varient are you sitting? If UK, and you work in Accountacy Practice, you should be Ok so long as you work through ALL of the opentuition lectures and you have a good basic knowledge of tax. I cant comment for the other tax varients however. The core of the UK F6 is Q1 Income Tax (30 marks), Q2 Corp Tax. The other 3 questions can be on anything and contain more theory. You can “Technically” pass so long as you do very well on the first two questions and “Mark-Grab” on the remaining three.
Up to now I personally have found F6 the easiest exam I have sat, BUT, I have worked in accounts and taxation for over 15 years which probably gave me a big advantage.
As for F5, Im glad that ones out of the way – It was horrible!! And I have friends who have sat it 3 times and each time the questions were really bad.
Best of luck to you.
🙂October 18, 2012 at 10:27 am #105649If you have experience and you can really hammer your 3 weeks of revision you will be fine. I am a little ahead of schedule and will have 4 weeks full time revision and I feel confident. depending on how you feel with the content of course. I find F6 to be rather simple, just the quantity is daunting.
October 18, 2012 at 9:27 pm #105650Thanks for your advise guys. I don’t work in accounts but i have found f6 (UK variant) quite straightforward the only disadvantage is that it’s time consuming. I’ll give it a go and see what happens. I’m just glad I’m sitting f5 first. Thanks again.
