Hey all. Ok, I sat F6 today. I home studied and didn’t really do any practice exams or past papers etc. So my technique is a bit dodgy. I was comfortable enough with the questions, but due to inexperience doing exam type questions, and the stress of an exam situation, my layout was a bit all over the place; stuff scribbled out, randomly placed workings, and my handwriting was in bits. I also had a habit of explaining where I got figures by writing like £50,000 (34,120+ 6,234+ 3,333 + etc) instead of doing proper notes explaining it. But the figures in the brackets should be fairly clear from elsewhere in the answer:-)
So someone’s going to have a real job correcting my paper. I’m wondering if they really make the effort to piece your script together and find a way to give you marks, or is it if it’s not 100% clear then you don’t get the mark? I’m just a bit worried as I’m going to be fairly borderline on this one:-(

What would be nice is instead of us blaming ourselves and worrying about whether the markers will be able to follow our workings, we start asking the examiner to word HIS/HER questions in a way that WE can understand. As far as I’m concerned, there’s always some poorly worded pieces of information and syllabus obscurities in the questions that throw people off. And by the time we’ve figured out what he/she means, it’s 1 hour to go and you’ve got 3 questions left to do.

I’m sorry but at that point it’s every man for himself and I’ll be darned if I’m going to hold the marker’s hand as he/she tries to work out what I wrote or why I wrote it.

OMG!!!!! That is so true, that is exactly me in the situation you are speaking about….Having to wonder what they are asking and really having 3 questions to do in one hour …. My work was a mess as well i had to even scratch an entire page and write over my work because when i almost finish with the question i realize i forgot out a lot of stuff… I think F6 was HARD ans there were too many questions to attempt in such a short space of time…….
