There is only indexation for companies. The tax benefit was around £5000.00 You had the benefit of the wifes £10600 limit and the lower tax rate 18% for the first £34370.

I left out the building extension in the capital allowances as I didn’t think this was P&M. Can someone confirm?

It was Fairly Ok Paper. I hope to pass Insha’allah, Q1 and Q2 were not so tricky at all, however Question 3 was something a little bit tricky, all other questions were okay

    UK Variant

My first exam since University (7 years ago) and I was pretty happy with it.

Nailed Inheritance Tax straight away and Q4 was pretty straight forward, also found the NI and VAT portions pretty easy to pick up marks. Q3a and b were pretty good as well.

Got tripped up a little on Q1a and Q2 I think which was annoying and didn’t know 3c at all.

I think I demonstrated enough knowledge to pass, reckon 60ish but that’s all I would hope for.

When do the results normally get published??

I did exactly that on Q2 re: Building. Also I agree on the tax saving 🙂

This was a rather “unusual” and “tricky” paper compared to the typical F6 exams we’ve seen. More shorter 5 marks questions were quite challenging in question 3 and 4 and I don’t think the examiner was on our side. The exam was also more theory diverted this time and needed more thinking for application. It was time pressured too. The IHT in question 5 was horrible! Just hope I pass

I am totally agreed with Gabriel, the paper was not a usual one, and tricky as-well.. I could not cope with time pressure, as I had to think a lot while answering the questions.. With a very good preparation now I am hoping, if I could only pass!!!

I also thought it was okay. Agree with everyone on the time constraints and was made to rush Q4 as I left this until the end. Although all of Q4 were for small marks so hoping I pick up the first couple of marks on each part a,b and c.

Feeling really deflated with this one; nothing really on income tax/benefits when I’d being gearing up for a 20 mark question.

Nothing at all on Gift Aid or pensions (even with auto enrolment looming?!) which we’d studied a lot in class and textbooks.

A bit gutted, but obviously hoping to scrape a pass – good luck to everyone!

Can anyone tell me what the answer to 3c pat 2 was? It said why should be delay the sale of shares to the following year but also said he was a higher rate taxpayer and didn’t have any annual allowance available. I know it was only 1 mark but it is really bugging me, if anyone knows?!

@Laura tax would have been saved if he would have delayed the sale of those shares

If he had delayed til the following tax year, then he would have benefitted from the annual allowance?

@MFC2476 yes and we could also have assumed that he might not have been a higher tax payer nxt year. it was just one mark and so jst saying tax would have been saved, i think would have sufficed
