    Hi Everyone,

I was thinking of taking F6 and F7 together for the June exam sitting. I have completed F1 – F5. However I have been doing some research and I am now wondering if this is the best combination to do.

I would be grateful if anyone who has taken this combination could give me some feedback as to how they found it or if there is a better alternative – maybe F6 and F8 together.

    Thanks a mil,
    Caroline

    Hi Caroline,

From experience there will be a lot of work involved in this but it depends on your employment circumstances too (are you working? If so, part-time, full-time?)

I’ve sat F7 three times at this point, waiting for my results now in a couple of weeks. I sat F6 twice a couple of years ago and found there was a LOT of work involved in this (this is just my experience, everyone is different).

both of these papers involved a lot of computational work, some tricky.

I found both exams very time pressured.

I think passing any of the papers regardless of what combination you do them in is all down to the person as everyone studies differently and it’s always harder putting more time into studying when you work full time as well. I work full time in a very pressured and busy accounts job so I find at the moment even studying for 1 paper at a time is exhausting.

Best of luck if you do decide to do both of these, from my experience doing both of these I wouldn’t study the 2 together. That’s just me though.

    Good luck with everything
    Erin.

I would tilt towards F6 and F8 (I did them myself).

F6 is about knowing pro formas number crunching and being fast with dealing with numbers. In F8 you won’t find any calculations (maybe some baby numbers like calculating materiality threshold or smth).

With F7 there you have consols (SOPL or SOFP), cash flows, ratio analysis for SOFP and changes in equity i think? When you add F6 there is a plenty of pro formas also and calculations that you need to know so might be overwhelming.

Also check the dates for both combination. If possible it is good to have some days between the exams.

Hmmm why not f7 & f8? I agree with sea goat about 6 & 7 may be overwhelming. When I was looking for a combo, a lot of persons had told me 7 & 8 goes together nicely & it really does.
But like Erin says, it comes down to you… how much time is available to you to study etc

    Hey Guys,

Thanks for all the feedback. Its good to get perspective from people who have actually done them.

I work full time also so maybe doing these two together might not be realistic with work. I do enjoy the calculation side of things more than theory but it sounds like I would be completely swamped in numbers and there is the potential to get extremely confused between the two.

I will probably pick one and of them and do F8 also. Nikkie what did you do F6 with or did you study it on its own?

    Thanks,
    Caroline
