I have this Emile woolf study text for F5 for exams in 2010, so will this be useful for me in my Dec 2013 F5 exam? What topics will I have to overlook from that book? Any major changes made to the F5 syllabus since 2010? What other additional topics have been introduced? Can I use that book to comfortably top the paper?
May 30, 2013 at 5:06 pm #127833Best is to look at the current syllabus and ‘tick’ topics off against your Emile Woolf book.
The main extra topic is cost-volume-profit analysis with multi-products (although that was asked in December and so is a little bit less likely this time).
The main topics removed are regression analysis and time series analysis (you will not be asked calculations, although you are expected to know what they are!).Variances are still all askable, although you will not be asked a full operating statement and basic variances will only be extracts (but planning and operations, and mix & yield are still fully examinable).
These are the biggest changes – there are other changes but not as important, but to be safe do ‘tick’ off the book against the syllabus as I suggest.
(All the extra areas are covered in our Course Notes and/or lectures.)
