Kaplan, BPP and Becker are the approved publishers and all of their Revision/Exam Kits are good. It doesn’t really make any difference which one you get 🙂

Hi, I found that the exam methods are a bit different for Decemember 2014. I still have the revision kits till June 2014. Can I ask whether I need to buy a new version of revision kits for december 2014 or I still can use the one I have with up to June 14 only.?
Many thanks
October 8, 2014 at 5:36 pm #203876In terms of the syllabus, there are no big changes and so your Revision Kits are still OK.
However, because of the introduction of Section A in the exams (where the questions are MCQ’s) then you really should get new ones because they have lots of the new style of questions in them, and it really is important to have lots of practice.
October 11, 2014 at 7:38 pm #204200First of all thank you dear John Moffat for your advice ,,,, Sir I have just downloaded the new BPP revision kit up to June 2015 which is really helpful and with new format of amended questions…..my question is ,,,Do I still have to study all the past papers or the kit including everything?
My other question is in section A of the test which is MCQ , how should I answer, should I only choose a letter A/B/C/D or also writing and showing my workings?
Thank you,
October 12, 2014 at 10:45 am #204219The new Revision Kit does contain all the past paper questions that are relevant.
In Section A, all you will be required to do is to give the correct letter. You are not required to hand in your workings for Section A – any workings for Section A would not even be looked at.
October 13, 2014 at 7:34 pm #204343Sir. I am currently reading kaplan book & exam kit which is old version. i heard tht mcq will come this december session. so what should i do now. pls tell me sir. i m in big problem.
October 13, 2014 at 9:47 pm #204363Depending on how old your Study Text is, you probably do not need a new one because the syllabus has not changed over the last year. (However, if you are watching our lectures you do not need a Study Text anyway.)
You should get a new Exam Kit, because the new one has lots of OT questions (for Section A) of the exam, and also Section B long-form type questions. It is important to practice lots of questions in both formats.
(For the Section A questions, we also have a test you can attempt online. The questions are chosen at random by the computer from a large bank of questions, and so every time you attempt the test you are likely to be asked different questions.)
(I am surprised that you have only just heard about the change of format of the exam – the ACCA announced it a year ago!)
October 14, 2014 at 3:36 am #204375Sir…. my book (kaplan) 2012 version. i m only practicing past papers (2008-2014) and reading study text thoroughly. i do work so i don,t have not enough time to practice kaplan kit (2012). so pls tell me some tips to pass f5 (i failed once). should i buy new kaplan kit for mcq?

In answer to your questions.
You should buy a new Exam Kit, because the format of the exam has changed and it is important to practice the new style of questions.
I appreciate that you work, but so do most students taking the exams (and so did I when I took the exams!) – if you want to pass then you really must find time to work through every question in the Exam Kit, and learn from your mistakes.
If you watch our free lectures (using our free course notes) then you do not really need to read the Study Text. So there is somewhere you can save time, to give you more time to practice questions 🙂
