I’ve just finished f5 exam yesterday tomorrow. I could manage 5 questions but after a good night, I’ve found that I made some stupids mistakes, especially in question 1. This was really an easy question with many calculations that I should have gained a higher mark, but I made a wrong division instead of a multiplication, so I derived a wrong ABC per unit (crying!). With question of Linear Programming. I found the optimal solution of 20000 of X and 66000 of Y, but I completely forgot entirely slack definition so I missed 6 marks of this. Question about the expected value was better done and I am pretty confident to get high mark with this. The question about Valets made me confusing about comment of its performance, but I completed it without being sure whether my comments were appropriate or not :). The question of divisional and transfer price was the most difficult for me. As my calculation, W Co had a much higher ROCE and higher asset turnover but lower operating profit margin than C Co. By the way, did you subtract the internal sales from C Co to W Co? I did not because I thought the investment center have to be held responsible for selling price, including transfer price if any (but I am not actually sure about it!). The transfer price, in my opinion, should be set up between the minimum level (= variable cost + contribution lost of transferred goods) and the maximum level (= 95%* current market price – distribution cost). But I am not sure whether it is right or not.
I hope to pass this exam with 50 marks although it seems to be small chance to happen! Self-studying is saving costs and the costs saved is to take the exam again and again (crying)

The ABC costing was TRICKY, but I tried to manage it. It gave us Cost Pools: Set ups, Cost Driver: Number of batch. But down, thet gave us number of (units) in batch! This is NOT the number of batch! We need to take the total units for e.g Product X 20,000 units number of (units) per batch 500 units, we divide we get 40 BATCHES for product X ! This was the most tricky one then we allocate product x’s cost per cost driver into 40 batches. I am not sure if it is this way to do it because most of all friends took 500 (units) directly =/ I am not confident about mine 🙁

Hi. Paper F5 was fair. Can someone tell me in question linear programming if the equation should be in minutes or hours. In the questions as I remembered there was hours & minutes for example 30x + 40y=32000 hrs or 1,920,000mins. Thx

I think it was a fair paper compared to the past exams, but my time management was so poor that I didn’t manage to finish question 5. question 1 & 2 were my favourites though I used a pencil on graph, hope I’m not going to be penalised for that.
    Fingers crossed..

The paper was quite trick, i know most of the students underrated it that is why it was time pressured! All the questions were not as simple as students think! Needed more time and expertise!

Yeah in the reading and planning time i looked at the questions and said to myself it is a very easy paper but when started solving the questions there were these little things which examiner had twisted 😛 As for the marks in Q2 part (a) was 14 marks and part (b) was 6 marks. Secondly in the profit outcomes question i just calculated sales and deducted variable cost from it due to less time hope i get good marks on that 🙁

Linear programming got 3.32 m forgot to less fixed cost…

35 mins on abc question not knowing what are the uncertainties to a budget

    Skip the qn on slack

Spent 10 mins reading transfer pricing and skip the question

Managed to finish qn 5 ????

Performance measurement is okie thanks to opentutution lectures

    Still hoping to pass
