Not a difficult exam but needed much more time … 3 hour time was not sufficient for attempting all the five questions

This is the third occassion that I have sat this exan . On the first occassion 42 and on the second 48. It was by far the worse of the three as all the questions were too long and required a lot of time to understand what was relevant and what was not.
I can understand the examiner wanting to make sure that we know the course work but I think this paper was a bit overboard.i feel for you man. i hope you pass. i hope i pass too. dont wanna sit this paper again.
my attempt at question 2 was abysmal. i hope i get marks for the headings.i would like to think i did ok with the theory parts but i maybe mistaken.
i finished with 30 mins remaining on the clock so i suspect i made a major mistake.
June 4, 2013 at 3:53 pm #128967what exactly was being looked for in question 2 a – the balancedscore card question
June 4, 2013 at 3:53 pm #128969Dear sam:
I really appreciate your concern but if you have noticed I did not state that I performed poor.what I meant to say Is just that she could have give more of numeric so that rather than only passing students would have gained good marks.
And by d way what else serious trouble could chase us other than not passing F5 confidentaly with good marks even when you had put all efforts when preparing for exam.
best of luck yo u with ur F5 results.

Regards.lol sorry I honestly did not mean to provoke you or anything and I assumed that you performed poorly because of your message, it doesn’t make sense that you have done well yet all angry at the examiner, that’s all.. But glad that you have not done that bad.
Anyways, I also wish you the very best of luck, i hope EVERYONE will pass, which is not possible!
June 4, 2013 at 4:21 pm #129012To be honesty it needed more studies than i did let us just accept that we did not do enough studies. I HOPE NEXT WE WILL MAKE IT.

I made a mistake in Variances, multiply variances to std price instead of std. profit.
Wasn’t being able to get Performance Management’s question.
I couldn’t calculate value of perfect information in question 1.otherwise whole paper went outstanding. expecting 70+ 🙂

I had attempted 85 marks paper.. Easy question was of mix of target costing, life cycle costing and Learning curve.. I did that at first place.. And by luck i was well known to balance score card. I am little bit confuse in budget.. My answer was in budget deficit value. decision tree was easy one. But I dont know how much examiner is serious about its proper format. I could not go through sales variances due to poor management of time. This paper was quite lengthy as compare to other past papers. Paper was so unpredictable.. Specially those students are suffered who had made selective study. Guys!!! ACCA study is no more selective, we have to cover each and every part of section with depth.. Wishing you all Best of luck and Me as well..

Almost al Qs were had 2 apply 80 tricks in 1 Q.June 4, 2013 at 8:57 pm #129195I also made a mistake in the decision tree
Forget to multiple everything with 3
Do u think that i ll get nothing in this question ( urgg it is 12 mark )or it just take me about 3-4 markJune 4, 2013 at 9:01 pm #129197well i just think about alternative approach
Instead of multplying everything with 3, only divided 360000 by 3
It is much shorter
Then i only not get the mark for not divide 360000 .
well hope that i will take me only 3 markJune 4, 2013 at 9:04 pm #129200 @duc169 said:
I also made a mistake in the decision tree
Forget to multiple everything with 3
Do u think that i ll get nothing in this question ( urgg it is 12 mark )or it just take me about 3-4 markyou will def get marks – all those 12 marks were not just for multiplying x3 it might have been 2-3 marks for just that. you will gain marks and half marks all the way thru your answer .
June 4, 2013 at 9:10 pm #129203hope that
In my exam at university, even u have a mistake at the beginning and it affects the resulf after thar, i ll def get a zero
In my last paper f7, i get a mistake to transfer wrongly a figure from fs to the working and it takes me 20 minutes to correct all the consenquent error.
It just break down my time management and i have only 25 minutes to do the ratio:(June 4, 2013 at 10:29 pm #129220Q4 totally missed it. but i must say i’ve done well in 3 questions and not bad in another one!
Gl for all to passJune 4, 2013 at 11:36 pm #129238i drew mu decision tree in pencil, would it be mark?

For whoever that was saying that number of members decreased by 5,250. It clearly said decreased TO 5,250
June 5, 2013 at 2:02 am #129243Honestly the paper was really easy. I am gonna score low because of my own mistakes.. i didn’t revise on examination day… kept sleeping :/ . i am gonna score full marks from Q5 and Q3. Messed up a little bit in decision tree, did half of Q2 and half of Q4. I can’t believe myself balance scorecard was so obvious and easy but i didn’t remember it at the time of exam 🙁

Absolutely difficult. Not what I was expecting at all; an entire mark question on balanced scorecard? And why two questions on probability? Totally different approach by the examiner and most of the formulas were given in question so no points to gain from calculations
June 5, 2013 at 7:36 am #129274Really easy paper . Guess I have learnt my lesson the hard way. Read the question very well . Its better that way. I did knw how to go about every question. I should have slept enough. I just pray I don’t have to write a second time . Till august let’s all hope for the best.
June 5, 2013 at 7:54 am #129279i couldnt do questn 1 at all. the rest was quite ok.

It was a surprise package for me though i had planned well this time round.I jst hope to flee this battle
June 5, 2013 at 12:08 pm #129329The Q5 says that
$30,000 of the costs for the year ended 31 May 2013 related to standard maintenance checks and repairs that
have to be carried out by the school every year in order to comply with government health and safety standards.
These are expected to increase by 3% in the coming year. Also it is given that the inflationary adjustment is 3%.
My understanding is that the maintenance checks and repairs would increase for the year of 3% *more maintenance will be performed) and also there is inflation of 3%. So I have adjusted the amount with totally 6%. The same with the other 2 point in that question.
Is it correct? - AuthorPosts
