which site would you say had the best tips?
June 3, 2013 at 6:26 pm #128654The Examiner incorporated tooo many written answer questions . That balanced scorecard questioned called for about 4 pages of writing and was not a question that could have been answered in the allotted time per question in my opinion. The budgeting question made no sense . lol idk I don’t think i scored very well . The variance question was Ok , The lifecycle as well . Decision Tree was complex .
June 3, 2013 at 6:26 pm #128655OK so i blanked on Expected value until the last minute of the exam. did you all get a deficit for the budget?
June 3, 2013 at 6:26 pm #128656Not hard but not so easy at the same time. Overall a fair paper, only got stumped at Q1 perfect information bit and Q2 balance score card, aside from these two managed all the others pretty well still in need of a hand of God though.
June 3, 2013 at 6:31 pm #128657Part of b of question 1 sucked, I had no clue where to start, 6 marks lost there. Part b for the variances question was also a nightmare for me. Balanced score card I did not study but I remember John saying Fitzgerald and Moons principles were basically the same just rephrased so I tried my best to incorporate it in there. The other questions were ok!
For the life cycle cost i got $125.60. I liked that learning curves were incorporated in there!!
Hopefully I’m still able to score at least 70%
Until August 8th Guys!!!
ToodlesJune 3, 2013 at 6:35 pm #128658variances question i used standard contribution margin did i answer correctly

Twas a fair paper, part a) of the decision tree and part c were alright, I did not have clue on part b, perfect whatever?
The rest of the paper was not bad especially the lower mark questionsJune 3, 2013 at 6:37 pm #128660John no offense but your tips were off this year dec you had 4 of 5 this is really 2 of 4 since the performance man was too general
June 3, 2013 at 6:38 pm #128661ahh todays papr was wrst.so confused and mixed!!! its isnt fair all question were so hard to do thre shld hav ben 2 esy 1.gave life cyle and itx wrkng weres oooooossooooooooooo dfclt :@

variances question i used standard contribution margin did i answer correctlyfor the quantity/volume variance you cost the difference at std contribution
June 3, 2013 at 6:39 pm #128664WHERE WAS ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING AFTER ALL THOSE HINTS AND EXAM TIPS ABOUT IT?? ARGHHH
June 3, 2013 at 6:44 pm #128665what happens if you use the wrong figure for the labour hours- i valued it wrong at first and but that in may revised estimate but figured out where i went wrong (i hope) and showed that calculation as a part of the working. do you think i will still get a mark for that.

variances question i used standard contribution margin did i answer correctlyboth sales mix and sales quantity needed to be valued at standard profit per unit as absorption costing was in use and data for overheads was also provided.
June 3, 2013 at 6:47 pm #128668For the Sales mix variance i dont understand why everyone used std contribution oO . It was specified in the question that the company uses a standard costing system which uses std profit as a basis and all information were given to calculate the absoprtion rate!!
Also if i fail f5 im not gonna bring any calculator nxt time since f5 is becoming more analytical and theory 😀June 3, 2013 at 6:47 pm #128669in the lifecycle question, all i did was attempt to calculate the direct materials again, and a small learning curve calculation using the equation, then added all the other costs in the lifecycle to it…i ignored note 3 and the notes at the top relating to target cost etc…do we get marks even for adding all the numbers up again like i did?

June 3, 2013 at 6:54 pm #128673if i recall the question on life cycle was 12 marks !! so 3 points for each calculation parts which leaves 3 points for the other components ; that means 0.5 marks per other items correct inlcuded in the lifecycle cost!

June 3, 2013 at 6:56 pm #128675Will I get any marks for the variances eventhough I used the standard selling price to value the difference, and the budget did anyone get a suplus . I think I have failed .I didn’t read the questions well I guess.
June 3, 2013 at 6:59 pm #128676for budget i got a deficit but i dont remember the figures clearly, i think is was deficit of 32kish ++ something
June 3, 2013 at 7:00 pm #128677Are u sure the decision tree question was decreased to and not went down by

I think I have failed .I didn’t read the questions well I guess.See the thing is you never use selling price its always either std contribution per unit or if absorption costing system then std profit per unit. Don’t get disheartened though, what is done is done. Concentrate on your next paper(s).
June 3, 2013 at 7:02 pm #128679Ohhh, a learning Curve in Life costing ? I did not read that. What was the learning rate ?
