I’m suprised at the comments of the exam today. Ann Irons, in my opinion, asked very easy questions that should have been studied. Flexed budgets are extremely simple, and is more like an f2 question. Questions such as maximin, learning curves and pricing decisions were expected, and covered thoughruly in the exam kits. I don’t understand everyone’s annoyance of the questions; linear programming and ABC were obviously not going to be tested. EMA would only be worth maximum of 5 marks, so I don’t understand people studying this in detail.
???????????????????? What’s the matter with peopleJune 13, 2011 at 10:22 pm #84794@danielglover I agree Daniel the flexed budget question was ok, but most of my study was done at home with only a small amount of college. The textbooks, for example on the maximin question didn’t go into any detail. I just hope I can grab a few marks on the describing section.

I found this F5 exam was a lot more straight forward for me personally. Of course we all see the exam through different eyes. I also got really worried when I saw the flexed budget question and the TP question. Once you start working through the question though it started fitting into place.
Q5 I was so glad when the unmet demand of 696 as stated in the question tallied with my calculation of 504 for no. of C operations. (total demand of 1200 for operation C)
Q1 Can I ask how people did the EV in Q1 for 4 marks. For each of the 3 values of cement produced I placed probabilities against each profit figure for each demand. then SUM(px) .
I found this F5 exam was a lot more straight forward for me personally. i donot think the exam was hard and this is the first time i am taking f5 the only problem is that there is no way of making sure your answer is correct. through put was easy because the QUESTION GAVE you the answer in section b & c by giving us the throught put return per hour so you know the bottle neck was the surgeon 1.25, flexed budget should be straight forward if your did cat t7 which they indicated that the standard didnot change, so figure/1200*1520 to flexed your budget. balance scorecard was the easy, that was the best question if you donot know the four perspective financial, customer, internal business and learning and innovation which came on p5 last week. ROI, RI ARE THE BEST, I AM HOPING THAT I GOT 20/20 FOR QUESTION 5. MAXIMUM , EXPECTED VALUE WERE A LITTLE BIT CONFUSING BUT OVER ALL IT WAS OKAY. THIS EXAMINER IS KEEPING STUDENT ON THEIR TOES AND THE ELEMENT OF SURPRISE WAS NOT THERE BECAUSE 4 OUT OF THE FIVE QUESTION CAME THAT I ANTICIPATED, YOU JUST HAVE TO LEARN TO ANALYSE PAST PAPERS AND SEE WHAT THE NEXT TREND IS AND READ THE ARTICLES FROM WAY BACK. THROUGHPUT WAS HINTED, RISK & UNCERTAINTY WAS HINTED, PERFORMANCE WAS HINTED SO WHAT MORE CAN WE ASK FOR THE WHOLE EXAMS. THE EXAM WAS FAIR
June 13, 2011 at 11:40 pm #84798she doesn’t like hinting stuffs. last time she same things what was semester before.

The comments are very surprising . I maintain that it is a very easy paper. All the different parts examined are in the syllabus and you cannot blame the examiner.
Should the examiner give the questions before the exams? Even then some students will fail the exams and will make adverse comments.June 14, 2011 at 4:51 am #84804AnonymousInactive- Topics: 0

QUITE DIFFICULT THIS TIME.. scenarios that are near impossible to answer PROPERLY in the time allowed.i ALSO WONDER What are they testing? Our knowledge of the subject or the ability to work out a labyrinth of calculations&assumptions before arriving at the data you need to answer the question? At least they should have provided some easy & quick marks..I’ve definitely failed, also…,i think..

???????????????????? What’s the matter with peopleABC or Linear Programming probably comes up in 90% percent of papers in the last 4 years. If you had read the Examinors report for December 2010 she said that people should not expect something not to come up just because it has been tested before. So to say it OBVIOUSLY wouldn’t come up is a bit over the top. You sound very fortunate to me.
June 14, 2011 at 6:07 am #84807Q1 was easiest for me, and answers for other questions I hope will be correct. Will see….
June 14, 2011 at 7:46 am #84808yap, the paper is not easy and a bit difficult further not enough to finish it. :<

for the exam was a disaster.. Question not able to attempt.. I hve not been able 2 compute payoff matrix.. Q4 RI not able.. Q5 throughput was a nightmare.. I hve not revise pricing.. huh… i am gona FAIL…
June 14, 2011 at 10:11 am #84814paper was average wiz lots of theory.hope to get above 50+
June 14, 2011 at 10:14 am #84815i really found it difficult, will just have to prepare myself for the next sitting
June 14, 2011 at 10:16 am #84816This is the 4th ACCA paper i’ve sat, and i’ve discovered that you need to know the whole sylabus for the exams. I know people are saying the workload is big for F5 but compared to others (F7,F9) it not that bad. Every exam i’ve sat so far has had obscure parts of the sylabus in…you need to know everything. The examiners are NOT going to test the same thing everytime, it will get to easy, and then what’s the point.
June 14, 2011 at 10:19 am #84817The paper itself wasn’t the hard if you know your stuff. If you’ve learnt profit tables and pricing the two questions were a gift. Throughput was due to come up – but was a bitch of a question. ROI were due, and the flexed should have been easy marks- but messed it up. As usual to much to do in time (I haven’t finished an exam yet)
