June 17, 2011 at 9:15 pm #84901I am one of those who like to be well prepared and do try to be as well prepared as possible. All four of ACCA exams I’ve done before I found more or less easy but I do have to say that F5 is the hardest one so far. Even though I felt quite well prepared, it did catch me out a bit and am not quite sure what the result is going to be… It is really stressful knowing how much time you dedicated to preparation and it might not have been enough! I can imagine the disaster this paper must be for those who do not dedicate to study as much!! Fingers crossed for all us guys.

June 18, 2011 at 3:21 pm #84903Don’t worry OT peeps… Keep your head up. Intelligence is not a trait, it can be learned. Just enjoy your summer, wait for the results and if it doesn’t go your way, show the examiner your resilience, determination and ability.
We can all do this. Just be strong.

I had the three different production levels on the right hand side (350,000 bags, 280,000 bags and 200,000 bags), and the three different weather conditions along the top.The contribution per bag was $5. Depending on the amount produced and the weather, I basically did (Production x $5) – (Difference between Production and Demand x $0.50), as if they weren’t sold it cost $0.50 to be scrapped.
That’s what I put, I hope it is right as I’d like the 8 marks!
I think the bags which weren’t sold had to be multiplied by £0.50 (disposal cost) + £4.00 variable cost, so $4.50 as not even that the business would recover

it would be nice to have just a half time more..
June 20, 2011 at 4:31 pm #84907I just read some comments and I need to say It’s nothing to do with how intelligent you are it’s how much you put into studying. I always try to put 100% into my study yet still this paper threw me.
You can never second guess what will come up it is best to try to cover all areas which I did try to but some parts were still stuff. Never mind it’s not the end of the world can always re take.

I think the examiner wanted us to prepare a flexed budget for the actual number of meals which was 1560. But u have to be very careful wen it comes to getting the labour rate. because wen the order exceeds50, the have to be paied $12 per hour. what i did was dat i divided 1560 by the number of days worked in the month (i.e 6days a week: 6*4=24days worked in the month. 1560/24= 65. which shows that an average of 65 meals was ordered in a day in that month. there fore increment of 5 within 15 left in 65-50(15) would be $12* 3=$36 per staff a day plus the normal pay which is $8 per hour. multipled by the number of days and also the number of staff in the restaurant.
I have to say the question is complicated enuf but not realli new for sum1 who has been an accountant for years.
I see so many people here quotind a price function instead of a demand function. at least ma first degrree in Economist lets me know dat demand function is Q=a+bp. if its price is $735 demand function would be 1000=a+735b. if it increases by $15 demand falls by 1000 units which gives us the second equation 0=a+(735-15)b. then u solve the equation.
