what an unpredictable exam. couldnt believe the questions. and payoff table!!! something i studied do well i could have barely understood what to do. what the hell…like i would ever think that would come up. the questions were fair , i guess i just wasnt fully prepared. overall the exam sucked for me(in terms of how i answered them). just hoping to pass this one.

According to my point of view.Ann,is a bright examiner. She looks for excellence.
F5..it was difficult for the firts time..a lot of new topics, that werent tested before in past papers,to have a better practice and view.the book provides little analysis and thorough examination at these topics tested.the exercises of studybook are also not many and not that difficult/complicated with data,as in the exams.
Apart from that, not all of us are near to study centers &work till night at the same time far from them & cannot attend all lessons(due to work). But even if s’body does attend them all..acca could provide books with more exercises, analysis and emphassis to peculiar/difficult areas.practise shouldn’t be only from past papers and plain theory.but with lots of material (practices to practice,practice,practice..)
scenarios in exam were difficult& rather confusing.u needed some time ,to work the data to your head&yet ,we are not given-of course_ that kind of ”luxury”..they weren’t that straightforward..&judging from our study team,i observed,we all could solve previous paper questions far more easily (!!)..anyway..study more,more,more..&again for next semester ,i think..
I also gave f8 for the first time & found the questions much easier and relative to previous papers.
I studied a lot for F5,but i am not confident with my performance.I cannot say that there’s a lot of criteria/previous tests to run to & check …
i would like some more easy and quick marks to have been given,also..if only i had given f5 the previous semesters..theory was piece of cake,as the most other questions…and what about performance measurement?no question ,that reminded-as a scenario- what u had previosly saw and would expect ..
    Anyway..Good luck to us all……

This was a fair paper. The examiner did not go out of the syllabus…. so how was she unfair? However, I agree there was plenty of time pressure, coupled with questions from relatively obscure areas. Lesson learnt: (1) never ignore any part of the syllabus (2) learn to work smart and fast at the same time. Wish u all the best. Don’t give up yet – wait for the result!

The examiner was not unfair..!!everything was in the syllabus,i agree.Yet ,she just prefered to test topics ,that were not tested that way before and add a few new, more..those who achieve even so..are the really well- prepared ones and the excellent students..
    So,for me,as i gave it 1st time,was more difficult ,than the previous ones…Good luck..

Q1 should be a breeze if I had revised. I took so much time cracking my head for it, that I failed to finish answering all. And, Q5 was kinda tricky!

What I found annoying was the question where you had to flex the budget. Take the labour rate, there was so much detail to go through to get the number you needed – it was just frustrating.

“The normal rate of pay is $12 an hour. But, if there are over 50 meals per day on average, there is an additional overtime payment to be made. This is at $0.50 per hour for every 5 meals over the maximum, unless the chef is wearing blue underwear and the moon is in its waning gibbous phase, in which case it is $0.50 plus the square root of the current number of sausages in the fridge, divided by the number of syllables in the 4th customer’s first name.”

The exam was disaster, i was expecting some questions from environmental and CVP, also most of the question parts were inter rellated so if you do not get the right answer in part A, it will not be easy to get right for the rest.

    Hope the best

The paper was not bad like many Students say, in fact all the things which came are things which all accountants should know or should have known before or at the time of sitting for the exam.but my point is —-the paper was soooo trick that it left unforgotable marks and scars in the pure and intellegent mind of the well prepared student like me.

A pass is not a gurantee this time i will wait for the results
