What did everyone get for q1 section b as the price to be charged?
December 1, 2014 at 5:37 pm #215285i think it was a fair paper compared to June – I think I did a good job after all in this paper
December 1, 2014 at 5:38 pm #215287cause they were spending the most time – 3 are not enough
December 1, 2014 at 5:38 pm #215288assistants could wash 160 clients per day, but stylists could cut 24 per day only. same with treatment, assistants could service 53 clients, stylists only 16. no senior stylists resource was limited – bottleneck.
December 1, 2014 at 5:40 pm #215290I think it was hard in a sense of time. You can actually get enough points by completing the big cases if you are good at those topics. But MCQs – each gives you only 2 marks, but most of them require calculations – very time consuming in total.

anyone knows when official questions and answers 2014 dec f5 will be updated in acca past papers?
December 1, 2014 at 5:43 pm #215293Very fair paper and mcq’s easy in comparison to bpp and Kaplan. I got TAR as 1.4 and 1.6 repectively. I left that question to last as hardest as far as I’m concerned. Finished the mcq’s in around 20 mins. In my opinion if you put the effort onto study then this was a very fair paper from acca.
Only one question on transfer pricing for goodness sake!! Agree with $16 and don’t take on manager as $1300 loss and all costs for target costing. Wish every paper were like this. So many tips on balanced scorecard you had to get this sorted prior to the day. Happy days and good luck allDecember 1, 2014 at 5:44 pm #215294Q2 TPAR was there just one stylist ? bottleneck 6x8x50=2400 hrs? therefore tpar less than1? 2.8 was a shadow price (how much extra would we pay without loosing any contribution therefore 2.8-2=0.8 0.8×20 = 16 extra contribution ?)
December 1, 2014 at 5:45 pm #215296Ps the $56 someone answered above ignores the $2 cost so $16
Is right!December 1, 2014 at 5:48 pm #215298that’s good thanks:>
December 1, 2014 at 5:49 pm #215299Thought it was a pretty fair exam…
Mcq’s most I thought were okay, ended up having to guess a few, what did people get for the 60000 target profit?
Got the 16 shadow pricing, 1300 loss also b and d for the decisions of what to make due to dividing the contribution by the labour hrs.
Transfer pricing decrease of 78, just accept investment as ri calculation would have gave a negative for bGot both TPAR less than 1 may of gone slightly wrong however still got most the method marks. Learning curve, realised I did wrong but only a few marks. Relevant cost was straightforward got 9000 something.
Balanced scorecard I thought was a fair question, and the variance question got 5k adverse mix and 9k yield.
December 1, 2014 at 5:49 pm #215300No, total time was 2400 x 3 as 3 members of staff available.
December 1, 2014 at 5:50 pm #215301Regarding the bottleneck activity – if you divide the number of salon working hours for, say, one week, on a time spent by every specialist on a client, you can see, that the number of clients senior stylists can serve is much less than other specialists do.
December 1, 2014 at 5:51 pm #215302transfer pricing: if they agree to buy from outside would company’s income increase by £65000?
December 1, 2014 at 5:52 pm #215305Tfr price decreased profit in closing div a as $140 to buy in and only $100 to make. Therefore loss was $65 per unit from memory less $10k saved for closing division and fixed costs saved etc.
December 1, 2014 at 5:53 pm #215306TPAR Q:3 members were available but only one of them was a bottleneck (fixed cost should be divided only by bottleneck resource hours)
December 1, 2014 at 5:53 pm #215307I got a decrease of 78000 as the mc was 100 and they were considering buying it in at 140 so the 165 transfer price effectively netted out until nil between A and B
That’s what I thought anywayDecember 1, 2014 at 5:53 pm #215308To alicija
Got increase by 65k – 55 because of economy in purchase price and 10 on A division fixed costsDecember 1, 2014 at 5:53 pm #215309$40 loss per unit x 2200 units and then add back saving on fixed costs
December 1, 2014 at 5:55 pm #215311But why we lose 40$?
We close A diviosion, and B division starts to buy at a price lower then from A divisionDecember 1, 2014 at 5:56 pm #215312I guess when you say increase in profits, you forget that question asked the companys profit, not divisions. WHen division A made profits when it sold to B, company made profit. so when it shut down, company made a loss
December 1, 2014 at 5:57 pm #215314Because it cost 100 dollars to make so the transfer price is effectively a in and out between a and b, therefore no real cost.
December 1, 2014 at 5:57 pm #215315Because you can make for $100 and you’re now going to buy for $140. As a company this is more expensive.
December 1, 2014 at 5:58 pm #215318I am not sure how I calculated the 65k but i was happy that it was one of the option available:>
December 1, 2014 at 6:00 pm #215319Really this is a make or buy decision, not a tfr price decision.
