i just felt like the ground should open up and swallow me as soon as i saw question 1. CVP? Sweet lord. As for the remaining questions, i finished them. Just hope i did not make any silly mistakes. The labour rate variance was quite confusing. I had to cancel i think at least two times. God i hope i got it right. All that i hope and pray for now is that the examiner can see my hand writings. My work was quite rough especially question 1 and 2…

I wish you all the best of luck…..
4 questions was all I managed to complete so I need at least 12.5 marks on average per question to pass which seems a bit too much to ask for….
…if I have to resit in June then I hope none of you joins me…
    Cheers….

if in one batch labor paid is $6 and it takes 0.5 hours of labor then the labor rate should be 6/0.5=12, not 9?

Aaaarrr I’m furious with myself. On question 1 I think I didnt do nothing to get points… may be just the last three… I have misread the questions and was a bit disconcentrated. I always hoped for this type of question and now I lost my battle.
Im happy will all the rest. Hope will pass .
    Good luck everyone.
P.S: is my impression or there was more writing than calculations?

I managed to finish 4 out of 5, I am pissed off with BPP and their text because there was not enough practice questions on CVP.
Why on earth does ACCA set questions in a difficult way?

CVP is a very easy question …..Its just that i lost it for some reason dont know why…
This is why BPP doesnt put it.
However exactly the same just different numbers – check chapter 8 opentuition notes.

I want to ask something weird!
I didnt write the question number on each page of the booklet I just blacked the circles at the top of the page! Would that matter? It just struck me now!

On the questions I am pissed with the variances, I have done all of them to see that I used 6 as std labour hour per HOUR and not per BATCH and I had to do them again! Overall, fingers crossed, I think I passed.

If of course those correcting can get to match my answers with the questions!
    Good luck to all!

It was a tough paper, we had got tips from our college that Throughput Accountings, Demand Curve, Learning Curve & Decision Trees could come up…not even 1 comes up!! Disaster as I had spent 2 days revising these.

Q1: Parts A & B i thought were really tough, it was something not ran through in the course and I found myself spending 15 – 20 mins trying to work this out with little success. The Graph on the other hand was something I attempted fairly well I think. I started off at -640k for Fixed Costs, then added the contribution of the three products ranked based on their contribution which gave me a positive contribtion of circa 2.5m at 68k total production. If Im lucky I got circa 5 – 10 Marks

Q2: This involved assessing a number of changes and incentives that a company had utilised in a month given the changes to financial and marketing. I felt this was pretty easy. Search Engine Optimisation = More Visitors x 35% = More Visitors. Need more detail on sales revenue to get a cost benefit analysis. Website Link: Specifically states what % visitors visited the website through here. Website Usage: This didnt improve and needs to be addressed. Incentive 1: Big Increase in Newsletter subscription. Incentive 2: Increase in orders over $100. Estimate about 15 Marks here

Q3: This was based mainly on the difference between a fixed and rolling budget along with assessing a bonus scheme. I found some success here in the bonus scheme, 1.5m achievable and the 2nd 1.5m not achievable. Again a toughie about 10 marks

Q4: This was about Labour Rate & Efficiency. I got a positive labour rate of €7,200 ($6 /0.5 = $12 x 0.05 = $0.60 x 12,000) & A negative Labour Effeciency of $21,000 which resulted in an overall negative labour variance of $13,800. I think I got mixed up between Operational & Planning Variances as I stated the ingredients change was an operational variance and that the labour reduction was a planning variance but still good marks found here i think. Circa 10 Marks

Q5: This was the one question I had actually prepared for. It was Ok i thought, the 4 activities were matched easily enough, Set Up costs – Production Runs, Ordering Costs – Number of PO’s, Delivery Costs – No of Deliveries & Machine Maintenance Costs – Machine Hours. I found there was little difference overall in the profit, however Product R was costing far less which was what was alluded to in the theory at the start of the question. The final part was theory re ABC benefits and was ok too. Circa 15 Marks

Overall a tough exam a lot tougher than I thought when the tips didnt come up but I think I passed overall.

hi guys, i hope you did well. on first question i found average contribution 0,36 and the ranking i found it as it was. ranking was 0,54 , 0,35 and 0,23 or something like that. found revenue near 1,7m. did anybody else got something near?
in variances i messed up a bit lol. in questions 3,4,5 i think i did quite good. hope its a pass for me
by the way i forgot my calculator at home and i had to return back home to get it. it wasnt so necessary as i found it. pure theoretical test
