So, how did everyone find it? Assuming there’s anyone left sitting the paper version now!

Thought Section B was ok though realised since I made a mistake on Q5, ah well.

Section A however was a LOT harder than I expected. Quite a few references to things I’d never heard of and couldn’t even work out by a process of elimination!

There was a question about criminal ofence in winding up a company, and the choices were: fraudlent trading, wrongful trading and making a false solvency statement? You had to chose two of them even though the three of them a considered to be criminal offence?!!!!

Wrongful trading isn’t a criminal offence – it’s a civil offence under the Insolvency Act.

I think June 2015 F4 paper was quite easier than the previous exam, the pass rate will be high enough I suppose

Really? I thought Section A was much harder than December’s exam. There were some questions that I couldn’t figure out an answer to because they weren’t even mentioned in my text book.

Been trying to remember some of the questions that I struggled with for section A. (am sad enough to have made a list to try and figure out what my minimum might be but I can’t remember all the questions).

One that really bugged me was about agency by estoppel. It asked whose actions would create it which is what threw me. I know it occurs when P holds A out to be the agent and is then estopped from denying it but it was the fact that it asked ‘whose actions’ that was my problem.

I was going to say P only but then thought that A would need to enter into a contract in order for P to be estopped? So, in the end I put P&A as my answer but have no idea whether or not that was right.

If anyone knows the answer to that I’d be eternally grateful.

There were quite a few like that where checking my text book is no help. Although I have now googled the eggshell skull rule and the officious bystander as Kaplan does not refer to these at all.

    Hey Jenny
I had the same confusion wasn’t sure which to put I though abt putting both but then I change my mind and put the agent could I guess without the agent action how would it had arise..idk I may be wrong…
Gosh the whole section was tricky like egg shell skull rule oh please don’t even know that rule.
I felt the examiner feel bad that their pass rate was the highest for all the papers and wanted to bring it down by giving us an exam that would sure to bring her pass rate in line with the others.

    Good luck to us all

    Glad it wasn’t just me!!

Thought a lot of the MCQs were like that – rather than just testing knowledge, designed to trip you up which is unfair.

Funnily enough I wondered the same thing about the pass rate!! Don’t know if I’m just being cynical but both the specimen and December MCQs were more of a test of knowledge.

Bit annoyed with Kaplan, whose books I used as there was no mention at all of either the eggshell skull rule or the officious bystander. I’ve googled both since and I think I might have guessed the first correctly but not the second.

There were a couple of other ones like that – what did you put for the option contract? Again, no mention in Kaplan. I eliminated unilateral and the offer options so it was between conditional and collateral – neither of which get a mention in Kaplan either!! I went for conditional in the end trying to base it a currency option contract as I just did F9 but no idea at all if that was right!!

Have a feeling BPP may have been the way to go for F4 if all these things are in their text.

Don’t worry, I know they tell you to but you won’t lose marks for it.

Yes. It’s easier for them if new questions start on new pages etc but they aren’t going to deduct marks for that.
