Hi Mike
I followed the link and read the document:
Note on Case Law
Candidates should support their answers with analysis referring to cases or examples.
Please can you let me know if this is for ENG and not GLO or if it has not been updated? Also, I am doing the CBE this month. In this document I think that only the following applies to Global:
Partnership Law
Knowledge will be required of the Partnership Act 1890, the Limited Partnerships Act 1907, the Limited Liability Partnerships Act 2000, and the Civil Liability Act 1978.Company Law
Knowledge of the Companies Act 2006 is required
Knowledge is also required of the Company
Directors Disqualification Act 1986, and the Insolvency Act 1986.Corporate Fraudulent and Criminal Behaviour
Knowledge of the Criminal Justice Act 1993 in relation to insider dealing, the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, and the Money Laundering Regulations 2007 in relation to money laundering, and the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 in relation to market abuse. is required. Knowledge of the Bribery Act 2010 in relation to bribery is required, and the Crime and Courts Act 2013.Please let me know if there is anything else that is essential to cover?
July 8, 2015 at 5:25 am #259928Case law is important only because it illustrates principles. It used to be important in the days before the new format (ie last year 2014) but is no longer important. I don’t foresee an mcq being asked where the choice of answer is four case names.
Only in a paper based multi-task question could you bring in any knowledge of case names and, after 2015, paper based F4 will disappear.
My advice is “Don’t worry about case names”
Rely on the list given in “Examinable documents” for examinable legislation

Thanks
July 8, 2015 at 7:14 pm #260221I’m not sure what you mean by “the ones above that I have listed” but, if you know what you mean, then that’s ok so no need to respond
July 8, 2015 at 7:48 pm #260233Partnership Law, Company Law and Corporate Fraudulent and Criminal Behaviour.
These are the different categories on the sheet.July 8, 2015 at 8:02 pm #260239Ok, but I did ask you not to respond! Every time you respond, that means that there is a question on that Ask the Tutor page that I haven’t addressed so, when the thread is ended, please allow my comment to be the final one!
That’s why I tend to close a thread with “You’re welcome” – so that my comment is the final one
Thanks
