How did you do? How did this paper compare to previous exams?
December 9, 2013 at 5:08 pm #151838The exam was a doable paper. However, I was expecting insider dealing, etc and it did not appear. Hopefully I have done enough to pass the exam.
December 9, 2013 at 5:14 pm #151844I thought it was a fair paper. I did attempt all the questions, I did struggle with the last one but I am over the moon with the other 9! I don’t know whether I answered them detailed enough but I did my best!
Thank you so much Mr Little, if it wasn’t down to you, I would never ever remember the past consideration cases! yes I did even remember Roscarla v Thomas and Lampeigh v Braithwaite!!!!!!!! I did suprised myself there big styleee ! 🙂 I also remember all consideration fact/cases and this is also down to Open Tuition and the fantastic tutor Mr Little.
I cannot thank you enough Sir, God bless you and your family forever.
December 9, 2013 at 5:16 pm #151847well the exam was doable ,a fairly straight forward questions on CDDA ,and Statutory interp ……but yea i got a bit confused on executed consideration apart from past consideration which was simple,
December 9, 2013 at 5:21 pm #151852Yeah it seemed okay, but you never really know what the examiner is looking for, i.e in terms of the depth. I could have written so much more for each question, but it’s tough with 18min per question. You kinda gotta select the most appropriate points Question 9 was by far the hardest on the paper.

i agree with Saad, you never know the dept the examiner is looking for. I am just waiting on the results.
December 9, 2013 at 5:56 pm #151873I thought the paper was really nice. Didn’t have any difficult with it but am worrying now that I won’t have gone into enough detail! I used cases though and hopefully put enough points for the marks allocated so we shall see. Hope everyone does well!

I thought that all the questions were really quite nice. Im just also worried that i didn’t go into enough detail.. Question 5 (Disqualification) got me thinking the hardest, bt i fink i got there eventually. Im just glad i managed to do all the questions. Goodluck everyone, we can all relax now until 2weeks before the exam lol

The paper was better than the June paper. I can kick myself on simple thinks like limited liability partnership and company forms for limited liability. Also the first part of the statutory interpretation. The rest I did know somthing about.
Thanks mike for your lectures. It was so handy listening whilst travelling to work and doing chores at home. With you there was always a great story.
December 9, 2013 at 6:12 pm #151881I am very grateful to Open Tuition. Both Milke and John for F4 and F5 papers. I used the open tuition lectures as my main study and very pleased that I managed to answer each questions in both papers. Hope to clear the pass marks in both papers.
I will carry on my ACCA study with open tuition lectures. 🙂
December 9, 2013 at 7:03 pm #151892I think I will try ENG next time.. I just hated GLO, and my exam result will definitely reflect my bad attitude and motivation 🙁
December 9, 2013 at 8:18 pm #151905thought it was relatively simple considering I only had 2 days to go though the material from scratch
all the past papers also look pretty straight forward so passing this module should be pretty straight forward. i think if you can’t pass f4 then you will struggle with the other modules
December 9, 2013 at 8:59 pm #151916F4 today covered almost all the topics. Did my best with tort of negligence – duty of care and standard of care. Consideration, leglisaltive approach did reasonable justice. CDDA and statement of share of capital was just facts writing so hopefully i covered enough on it. Q6 on limited partenership and limited company was ok, Question 7 on emplyment law- constructive dismissal was really good and its remedies also was easy to answer. Q8 scenario on unsigned contracts, exclusion clause and unfair terms was answrable but i waffled on q9 company secretary and q10 wrote 2 lines unfortately could not remember anything on shares, debts, floating charges and order in which debt is settled. Hopefully there was enough detail in there for 50%. Thank you open tuition for helping me remember all the cases for contract law and negligence which I really did justice on.

I think it was a really good paper but I completely agree with the other comments that considering the pass mark is so low for law I wonder how much depth they are looking for when marking the paper. I also can’t thank mark little enough as I remembered all the cases too re mcardle, etc etc! I also got confused with executory and executed in the exam although I did know the definitions before hand. I hope I have done enough to pass! I finished half an hour before the end but wrote at least a page on most questions and up to two pages on other questions. I hope we all pass!

Same sentiments…
December 10, 2013 at 12:56 am #151964The Eng paper was not bad my downfall was not having enough time to study (work etc). I will however use this experience to ensure that when I repeat next year I will pass.

I just found out that for question number 10 I did fine but added an unnecessary (unfortunately wrong) detail. Am wondering how the examines treats things like that. I wish he simply ignores that part.
December 10, 2013 at 4:08 am #151978Which variant did you take? 🙂
December 10, 2013 at 4:09 am #151979Is there anybody here taking Singapore variant? I’m wondering if Sing or UK, which one is eaiser 😛

It was a doable paper . Hopefully this time i wrote enough content to make me pass.
I want to ask. when you state a principle of law but quote the wrong case, would you lose all the marks?

I did that too quoted white and Chappell in the golden rule, I explained it correctly but then used white and Chappell!
December 10, 2013 at 8:19 am #152012Surely White v Chappell is appropriate to quote to illustrate the golden rule
