FFA Exam today was neither easy nor hard. I hope will pass in this exam.
I feel speed is very important. In limited time we have to attempt all questions.
Good luck to all students.June 11, 2013 at 2:51 pm #131604AnonymousInactive- Topics: 0

it was hard faild to compherend most of the questions
June 11, 2013 at 3:43 pm #131631my calculator did not function.. so i need to calculate everything manually
June 11, 2013 at 4:39 pm #131646I reached number 46.
couldn’t finish
time ran out.June 11, 2013 at 4:53 pm #131651Hard – I wasn’t prepared well enough for this and coped badly with the time constraints, although its worth saying that the examiners didn’t exactly help make it any easier………….
First, there were a very high proportion of questions specific to the content of the IAS provisions or asked within reference to an IAS provision.I mean, I know they’re important………… but they really went for it…… at least twice as many of them than in any of the mock exams.
Second the first ten or 15 questions had a higher average level of complexity than thelater stages of the paper, which was very unsettling (I didn’t recover compure too well). These guys know how to prey on the weak haha
Additional categories which seemed prominent were equity, and Parent & subsidiary and depreciation which I did ok on. There was also a receivables question which drove me mad!!! I understand the method but they always make these questions difficult to interpret (no 6 or 7)…..if anyone knows the answer it would be good to know?
I will be doing this one again in December I’m sure but it’s not the end of the world not the end of the world
June 11, 2013 at 5:08 pm #131666Can anyone give me some tips what majority of the questions came from?Monday is my exam (computer base),I am bit nervous.Please….
June 11, 2013 at 5:59 pm #131676There were many questions on consolidation, specifically about adjustment within related parties.

The time was too short because you have to calculate a lot and there was not enough time to think.
June 11, 2013 at 6:46 pm #131700this was a disaster time was too short, one of the time I found myself just circling questions without even reading. hopefully i get some of what i circle correct. i dont know what they were thinking of when setting this paper, my goodness. cant believe it
June 11, 2013 at 6:50 pm #131703the time was too short. there was not time to even think. acca is making these questions difficult because most of the answers are similar and confusing. hmmm…………….. God help us
June 11, 2013 at 7:34 pm #131709in terms of difficulty cant say it was very hard but time was rough and tough and no friend of mine. I do hope i passed. just cant take a fail right now. thanks open tuition for all your help
June 11, 2013 at 8:00 pm #131717i would frankly admit that I have never written any exam like this in my entire life. The questions werent that bad…the examiner took her time to test the latter part of the syllabus, most importantly the IASs and some key accounting policies. Time was the major limiting factor, the questions needed a great deal of analysis and critical reasoning as well as applications to scenarios and trying to figure out what is applicable to the particular scenario in question. By the time you’re done with the analyses you just discover time is far spent. For you guys writing computer based I really dont think it should be as tough and as time consuming. I really cant assess my performance on this but I hope it comes out well at the end. Goodluck peeps.
June 11, 2013 at 9:01 pm #1317301st 25 question takes 1.30hors then ………….

sincerely felt bad about how this exam turned out….not good at all. Made me feel i didnt know jack. Too much concentration on certain topics…this type of questions shouldnt be accessed in a knowledge based exam….definitely too technical.
It’ll take a miracle for this to turn out well for me.June 12, 2013 at 12:44 am #131750The exam was about consolidation and provisions 🙂 I have really shocked with consolidation questions, or it was my weak side I couldn’t be aware. Still I can’t find sth stating market value of shares after acquisitions and how it has affect on goodwill on group account.. Anyway, for whom who wishes to go with F3 I kindly advise to learn by heart all specified IAS standards, not rely on only reading referenced books for preparation.
June 12, 2013 at 4:34 am #131759none of the questions were similar to any of the past papers OR from the BBP study book. i did 300+ past exam including 2013 study book exam questions and I could answer only 15 questions confidently, and there were 1 hour left ! this is crazy. i will go switch to australia CPA exam.
June 12, 2013 at 4:53 am #131762Thank-you opentution!!!! You lectures were the reason I passed! I depended solely on ur lectures! i cannot thank the teachers at opentution enough… keep up the good Work guys 🙂
June 12, 2013 at 4:59 am #131763Then I see F2 swallowing people then coz its gross in calculations.cost accounting need three times as much preparation
June 12, 2013 at 5:17 am #131766Hey guys wanted to ask if u watch lectures and study bpp is there a hogh possibility i will pass
June 12, 2013 at 8:59 am #131788I strongly believe its high time multiple choice type of questions should be stopped. You fail when you could have passed. Its better to have part marks than multiple choice, no part marks. Lots of calculations with very limited time on this exam. Its hard, and painful to fail just like that. I hope I passed.

Well I’ve got nothing to say but “time” being the limiting factor… It’s crazy how I failed June and Dec 2012. Didn’t try at this time. Giving myself time to be ready in Dec 2013
June 13, 2013 at 1:47 pm #132006Time wasn’t enough. where i sat from in Uganda, every one was moaning of time and the questions weren’t easy. I mastered consolidation question of all the BPP kit but the examiner may be didn’t want us to pass. He just kept twisting the questions. May be BPP should set complicated questions for revision than straight forward questions. Guys do u remember the one of the consolidated qn of finding the Consideration Valve when ur not given a good will figure. i struggled with it. In the end, i did closed my eyes and chose a answer.

The exam was great!!! All questions were in the same format with the mock questions I had practiced. I had time to finish and revised up to No. 20, before the papers were collected.
June 13, 2013 at 9:19 pm #132091I Agree! As most of you have said, I find the same the time been too short for this paper, especially when we do computer base exams, I found very much difficult with long paragraph type question to read, understand and pick the values and then calculate, which take time.
I also found that most of the question came from one particular area of this whole big syllabus. About 6 questions only on consolidation and even the theory questions came from that particular area. Also the questions which came were very much different than those on revision guide questions.
