hello sir,
Sorry if I’m in the wrong forum.
I have not yet registered with ACCA but i will soon. I have done my Bcom in India and i can claim exemption and start directly with F5. I have 2 questions:
1. I have time to study now but i don’t want to write the exams this time. Is it advisible to study for the the next year’s exams now? how much would the syllabus change?2. What are the drawbacks of claiming exemption from the first 4 papers?
( I studied commerce in Indian syllabus)May 10, 2015 at 3:52 pm #2451191. There is no problem starting your studies now – if there are any changes to the syllabus next year, they will only be minor.
The best way is to watch all of our free lectures in order (with the free lecture notes in front of you), and then to practice as many questions as possible. You do not need to use a Study Text (our lectures go through the whole syllabus), but you do need a Revision Kit from one of the ACCA approved publishers, because they contain lots of exam standard questions to practice.
2. The only drawback of claiming exemptions is that Papers F2 and F3 are assumed knowledge for later papers (F2 for Papers F5 and F9; F3 for Paper F7). In theory you should have studied everything necessary already, but some things might not have been covered at your college, or (of course) you may have forgotten them.
However, it is no problem, because our lectures go through everything that is needed for F5 (including revision of the relevant parts of F2).If you are certain that you will not be sitting the exam until next year, then best is to wait until this summer to start studying (we always revise and improve our lectures and lecture notes every six months).
