Hi sir
If i am not studying in the UK, which law should i study for my exams, english or global law??November 28, 2023 at 12:21 pm #695659Hi Huzeifa
Where does your future take you? Do you have ANY idea at all that you may wish to practise accountancy / auditing in the UK at any time in the future?
If the answer to that is ‘Yes’ then it’s the English variant for you.
If it’s a strong definite ‘NO!!!’ then it’s an open choice. Global tends more to lean towards International Trade and its roots whereas English concentrates more on English contract law (and partnership, agency and employment law)
Both variants consider company law as it relates to corporations but, of necessity, this is almost exclusively aimed at English corporations.
Of the two variants, my personal preference would be towards the English variant.
2 reasons – the first is that I am English, qualified in England and practised accounting and auditing in England. So all the English law came very easily to me.
The second – just for the sheer FUN of the development of the English legal system. It’s a lot more fun than the dry United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods!
But your own choice is primarily determined by your future aspirations. Then secondly … as I said, it’s your choice!
Maybe if you intend to remain in Kenya (or really anywhere outside England!) then possibly the Global variant could prove to be more relevant. But even then, that depends upon where you finish up when starting full time employment following qualification
Has that helped?
