Hi. I’d appreciate a bit of clarity on eg 14 and 15 of Chapter 2: Deductions from Total Income. Eg 13 seems straight forward as the tax payer is a Basic Rate Payer. I noticed that in eg 14 and 15,where the tax payers are additional and higher rate payers, the gross amount of the gift aid donation was deducted from the total income to give us Adjusted Net Income. The amount is then added to the higher and additional rate band limits. Excuse my slow grasp of the concepts involved, I just would like to know if thats how we deal with the different rate payers in treating the donations. Many thanks in advance.

Just to clarify – have you worked through the notes along with the lectures?

Many thanks for your kind response. I went through the notes and lectures a few more times, thankfully it is now much clearer. It must have been anxiety.

Hey no worries – very pleased that you were able to sort out your own problem – you will remember it far better as a result!
