Just wanted to confirm if these two subjects are now examinable in p4 or not ?
June 1, 2014 at 7:19 pm #172457Portfolio theory used to be examinable, but (as it says in our Course Notes) it is not examinable any more. (Although you are expected to know the idea in the sense of being able to write about systematic and unsystematic risk)
Transfer price is not examinable at P4.
However……..at the P level, topics from any of the previous exams are allowed to be asked. Having said this, I would be very surprised indeed if you were to be asked anything about transfer pricing.
June 1, 2014 at 7:58 pm #172467Transfer pricing is examinable in the context of MNCs and blocked funds and has also featured in some past exam papers as well.
Refer to syllabus guide Section B, point 2. (a)(ii)
June 1, 2014 at 8:41 pm #172472That is true, but that is not transfer pricing in the normal F5 / P5 sense of the word. It is a cash flow common sense idea rather than determining a transfer price.
June 2, 2014 at 2:59 pm #172666Many Thanks John .
John one more simple advice . Is it wise to attempt section B fisrt ?
i attempted P7 today and went for section A and found myself having difficulties with time management but Section B seemed a piece of cake .
Will it be wise to attempt Section B in P4 instead of going for Section A ? As in the end we will be writing out theory of Section A question after getting its calculation done .
June 2, 2014 at 3:12 pm #172681There really is no best way – everyone is different.
I personally would certainly spend some time on section B first.
However most important – whatever order you do the questions in – is to allocate your time properly and not over-run.Whether you do section A or section B first, make sure you do not spend more than 1.5 hours. If you have not finished then leave a page blank and carry on with the other section. If you have time later then go back and try and do more on what you hadn’t finished (which I why I suggested leaving a blank page 🙂 )
June 2, 2014 at 3:19 pm #172700Ahh Thanks John 🙂 ! I have to attempt Section B 🙂 .. .Section As are horrible for sure 😀 ! Many thanks for all your precious time .
