    Dear Mr Moffat,

I was thinking of setting F9 in March but I haven t started studying yet.
Could you please advise if the available time would be enough to be prepared for the exam?

I am full time worker and I can study mostly during week-end.

    Thanks and Regards
    Gabbi

Yes – you should certainly have enough time provided you study hard at the weekends 🙂

Download our free Study Guide first, and follow the programme in there.

This is a relief! I am retaking F9 and starting now.
I believe the key is more question practice – especially the MCQ

    Dear Mr Moffat,

I have started reading F9 a week ago. I am working through the online lectures, notes and practice questions. I am also reading the relevant chapters from Kaplan books and finding it time consuming.

Do you think that if I can concentrate only on OpenTuition resources, together with practice questions from Kaplan Exam Kit will be enough for passing the exam?

    Kind regards

    Cveta

Our free lectures (used together with our lecture notes) are a complete course for Paper F9 and cover everything needed to be able to pass the exam well.

The only extra book you really need is the Revision/Exam Kit because that contains lots of exam standard questions, and the more practice the better.

You do not need the Study Text. If you have it, then just use it for any areas that you feel at all unsure about after watching our lectures.

Hi every one, The only reason that I am here right now is to give my endless thanks to this Hero : John Moffat, My great master, I had an extreme situation through the preparation period for F8 & F9, and to be honest when there was only two weeks left for the exams I’ve lost my hope like “there is no way to make it, there is no way to success”. but I did not give up, I was totally depended on Mr.Moffat’s lectures and believe it or not! I passed both of them and I scored 61% in F9 !!!!

Thank you Mr.Moffat, you are the best

    Dear Mr. Moffat,

Before December exam session I was very close to decide to quit ACCA since I was stuck with F8 and F9 for more than 3 years. I can’t thank you enough for your brilliantly structured lectures that put together all the missing pieces, showed the essence and gave me such confidence at the exam which I haven’t felt since college 🙂 you can guess that the result is pass, with 59%. With your help and help of other tutors and OT materials, ACCA membership now looks possible indeed 🙂

Thank you again and all the best,
    Ivica

I assume that you have studied well in the past (but if you have not watched our free lectures then do, because they are a complete course for Paper F9) and therefore what is most important is practice and exam technique.

You must practice every question in your revision kit (if you do not have one then you should buy one). With regard to the MCQ’s you should practice them under time pressure. With regard to the Section B questions, do spend time on the written parts of the questions and learn from the answers (50% of the exam is calculations and the other 50% is ‘written’)

In the exam, make sure you answer all of the MCQ’s – guess the answer to those that you do not have time to finish, or get stuck on.

In Section B it is vital to do something for every part of every question. That does not mean finishing them – you are unlikely to have time to finish them all – but you will get more marks handing in 5 questions all part finished, then if you only hand in 4 answers even if some of them are finished.
In the calculation parts, make sure that your workings are neat so that the marker can follow them – the marks are for the workings and not for the final answer.
In the written parts, make sure you leave a blank line between each point that you make – there is then less chance of the marker missing what might be a valid point.
Make sure your writing is easy to read. You will think it is, but ask someone else to read your writing and see if they find it easy to read.

The MCQ’s we provide are relevant.

The ones in the practice tests are not all exam standard – they are to check that you understood what was in the relevant chapter.

The MCQ’s in our mock exam are exam standard. We cannot include ones from recent exams because the ACCA does not publish them.

For more practice you really should have a Revision Kit from one of the ACCA approved publishers. They have lots of exam standard MCQ’s and you really should not be attempting the exam without having practice every question in your Revision Kit.
