Hi. Im torn between TX-UK and PM for Sept 2019 exam. Which is better to take first? I am not familiar with UK taxation by the way. Done with AA this March. Hopefully I passed and booked FM for June. Starting FM now.
Any advise is very much appreciated.
Hi,
Well, personally I think PM is better to take first.
TX-UK is a very technical paper as it has quite a lot of tax rules, rates and allowances that the students must not only remember but also understand in order to apply these.
While on the other hand, PM is a build up on the knowledge of F2 (MA). It is not very technical as it is has both calculation and analysis.
I personally found PM more interesting and better to study than TX though the pass rates are lower for PM as compared to TX-UK. However, I believe pass rates should not worry any student much as it is not necessary that if one person found a subject tough another person would find it tough too.
In fact, I had given 6 months to study TX-UK as I was struggling with it since day1. So I started studying gradually TX-UK along with PM gave PM in June then TX in the next sitting- September.
But again, me struggling with TX-UK doesn’t mean that you will struggle too.
Hope that helps.
Thank you
