8)Exam layout: Are there any marks for layout? My question especially relates to format of setting out of NPV cashflows that you give and what i saw by ACCA tutor from Kaplan on Youtube. When they calculating MV of Convertible loan note they layout it as IRR when calculating Cost of Debt in WACC question, i mean they put at TIME 0 – MV =x, NPV=0. so they working like backwords. But our approach that i learnt from you were just calculating Npv and that is MV. no difference in layout. Are there any marks lost for our layout?

The marks in section C are for the workings rather than for the final answer, and so it is important that your working are neat and clear enough for the marker to be able to follow them. Even if you make an arithmetic mistake, you will still get most of the marks if it is clear that you were doing it the right way.
The layouts that I use are perfect for getting the marks. (And my layouts passed my exams extremely well 🙂 ). If you want to use other layouts then fine, provided again that it is clear for the marker what you are doing 🙂
