    Hello,

I’ve never used exam kits for any of the exams I’ve sat since university (including SBL and AA), and I scored particularly well in both. My approach has usually been OpenTuition lectures for Audit, and for SBL mainly YouTube videos of tutors working through questions, along with past papers from the Acowtancy platform.

Recently, I’ve noticed a lot of people recommending the Kaplan online study kit for APM. I do have access to it, but I haven’t used it at all so far, as I’ve been focusing on past papers instead.

This made me wonder whether I’m missing something. Is there a real advantage to using a study kit for APM, or is it largely equivalent to practising past-paper style questions?

I’ve also noticed that there seem to be fewer APM questions available compared to other exams, which adds to my uncertainty about whether my current approach is sufficient.

Given that the exam is approaching quite soon, I wanted to sense-check my strategy. If it would genuinely be more beneficial to switch focus to the study kit rather than trying to complete all remaining past papers on Acowtancy, I’m happy to do so. I think my study time is a bit tight ( 3.5 hours on a working day and 9 hours over the weekend), averaging around 26.5 hours a week.

I’d really appreciate your insight and advice.

    Thank you.

I suggest you concentrate on past papers, but maybe throw in an occasional exam kit question – especially if there is a commentary provided that helps you to assess your answer or planned answer.

As I’m sure you realise, question practise is essential in this exam as the new ‘knowledge’ content is relatively small and the exam will concentrate on application, not knowledge.
