Hi John,
I have failed P4 twice now, with marks in low 30s, I cant understand what I am doing wrong. I know the topic and practiced exam questions in the BPP revision book. I want to do it again in December but cant think what approach to take now, any suggestions?
Do I do same questions again or do I revise the theory?
any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
Mo.October 18, 2016 at 3:24 pm #344725I am sorry that you have failed the exam for a second time.
First I suggest that you watch my lectures and check that you really do know the topics – a mark in the 30’s does, to be honest, suggest that maybe you do not know them as well as you need to. Do not just concentrate on the calculations but check that you really understand what you are doing and why.
Secondly, you cannot ever get enough practice. If you have worked through all the questions in the BPP Revision Kit then buy one from another of the ACCA approved publishers so that you will have different questions to attempt. Do not just ‘audit’ the answers but do try and do them yourself before you look at the answers and then check and learn from your mistakes. Download from the ACCA website the recent exam questions and answers that aren’t in your Revision Kit and attempt them also.
Thirdly, do watch the free lectures that I have uploaded working through several past exam Question 1’s. In them I talk through the approach to the question as well as working through the technical content, and your approach is important.
Finally, in the exam, do make sure you do something for every part of the three questions. You will not finish all the parts of all the questions, but it is vital you do something – however little. Leaving out part (or all) of a question completely inevitably risks failure.
Any problems you have attempting questions or understanding answers, then do ask on here.
